Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma is currently playing host to the first WSOP Circuit poker festival for 2016. It kicked off on January 7 and will run through January 18, featuring a total of 12 gold ring events as usual. And three of those have already been completed.
A few hours ago, Marshall White topped the field of the one-day $365 No-Limit Hold’em, or Event #4 on the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant schedule, to capture his second-ever gold ring and the amount of $31,864 in prize money.
The one-day event attracted a field of 494 entries who generated a prize pool of $148,200. The top 54 finishers received a portion of the money, with lowest payouts worth $569.
The event’s nine-handed final table was set with Mina Greco, the only female player among the nine finalists, as the chip leader. She had a total of 954,000 in chips or about 32 big blinds. The eventual champion was among the short stacks at the beginning of nine-handed action. However, the player managed to catch up and eventually capture the gold ring.
The names of the heads-up opponents became clear late in Level 30. White had to face Greco for a two-handed match. It started with female player holding 3,100,000 in chips against her opponent’s 1,840,000. However, White took the lead at a certain point and eliminated her a bit later. Greco took the amount of $19,700 for her runner-up finish.
As mentioned above, White had previously won one gold ring. That happened back in February 2015, when the player topped the field of the WSOP Circuit West Palm Beach $365 No-Limit Hold’em for $12,181. Including last night’s victory, White’s live tournament earnings now amount to about $470,000.
And here are the rest of the finalists and their respective payouts:
Derek LeJeune took 3rd place for $14,392. Jaime Cantu finished 4th in the tournament to collect a payout of $10,669. Kelly Cortum took home the amount of $8,024 for finishing 5th. Jeff Fielder took 6th place for $6,121.
Billy Seber finished 7th in the event to scoop $4,735 of the entire prize pool. Jeff Sudbeck took 8th place for a payout of $3,715. Rounding out the nine-handed final table, Dustin Murphy finished 9th to collect $2,957.
