Phil Hellmuth to Film Poker Night in America Episode at Thunder Valley Casino Resort

Popular poker pro Phil Hellmuth confirmed that he will be attending the next stop on the schedule of Poker Night in America at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California. The venue will feature tournament series scheduled to kick off on January 21 with a number of events open to interested players.

A featured $1,650 Main Event with two starting flights will be the final event on the schedule. It is slated to begin on January 29 and will run through February 1 with a televised final table. And local players will be given the chance to play against no other than Hellmuth who confirmed that he will be entering the said event.

Holding fourteen WSOP gold bracelets, Hellmuth is arguably one of the world’s most recognized poker players. His live tournament earnings currently amount to $19,310,196 and he ranks 8th in the All-Time Money List. The Poker Brat, as he is commonly referred to due to his occasional (or rather frequent) outbursts while at the poker table, is currently the only player to have ever won both the WSOP and WSOP Europe Main Events.

Apart from his appearance at the table of the $1,650 Main Event, Hellmuth will also be featured in a Poker Night in America episode. This will not be the player’s first appearance in the popular TV show and he is not the only recognizable face to be seen playing against local players in the special cash games featured in the episodes.

Poker Night in America is to film its High Stakes Cash Game on January 29-31 at the poker tables of Thunder Valley Casino Resort, along with the four-day Main Event.

The hotel and casino complex features 250,000 square feet of gaming space with as many as 2,500 slot machines, 103 table games, and Up the Ante – a live poker room with enough space for up to 240 players.

Commenting on the addition of Poker Night in America, Thunder Valley Casino Resort Poker Operations Director Ben Erwin said that they are all thrilled with the opportunity to bring the series to northern California. Thus, local players will have the chance to compete against some of “the most well-known poker personalities,” with Hellmuth being among those, and Thunder Valley will further establish itself as a premier poker destination, according to the executive at the gambling venue.

Poker Night in America airs on CBS Sports Network.
