Poker pro Steve O’Dwyer was the one to put an end to Byron Kaverman’s rather longish reign in the GPI leaderboard. The Irish player has been topping the prestigious ranking for two weeks now with a total of 4,172.11 points.
After GPI’s weekly update, American Jason Mercier climbed 3 positions and now ranks 2nd with 4,044.06 points. Nick Petrangelo dropped one position to take 3rd place with a total of 4,030.13 points. Byron Kaverman, who became the 2015 GPI Player of the Year, now ranks 4th in the GPI leaderboard with 4,022.13 points. Anthony Zinno is the player to complete this week’s top 5. He has a total of 3,953.59 points.
English poker professional Stephen Chidwick is a notable returnee to top 10 of the ranking. This week, the player ranks with 9th with 3,662.81 points. Recently, he finished 14th in the 2016 PCA $5,300 Main Event for a payout of $41,360 and 335.65 GPI points.
In December 2015, the player topped the field of the EPT Season 12 Prague €2,200 No-Limit Hold’em event to collect €119,400 and 322.99 points. A fourteenth-place finish in the EPT Season 12 Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller secured the player with the amount of €80,800 and 234.48 points.
During last year’s edition of the WSOP, Chidwick had the very best chance to win his first-ever gold bracelet. However, the player finished 2nd in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship, after he could not make it against his heads-up opponent – Italian Max Pescatori. Chidwick received the amount of $180,529 for his efforts and added 298.45 GPI points.
The Englishman’s 1st place in the EPT Season 11 Malta €2,200 No-Limit Hold’em for €102,100 and 242.17 GPI points is also part of the list of his best accomplishments for the past 36 months. During the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, Chidwick took 4th place in the A$25,000 No-Limit Hold’em Challenge. His payout amounted to A$250,000 and his achievement secured him with 292.92 points.
The list of the poker pro’s cash positions in a number of prestigious events goes on and on. Overall, Chidwick has collected the amount of $4,449,500 in live tournament earnings since the beginning of his poker career. The player is also a respected and feared opponent on the online poker circuit with winnings of more than $4.5 million.
