The $365 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better, one of two non-Hold’em events on the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club, was completed a few hours ago with Vincent Renzo from Long Branch, New Jersey emerging victorious to collect $12,014 in prize money and his first-ever gold ring.

Shortly after his victory, Renzo told interviewers that he prefers playing Pot-Limit Omaha and Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better to No-Limit Hold’em as the latter has become too boring over time. The player also revealed that he will go back to Palm Beach Kennel Club this weekend to enter the Main Event.

The $365 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better drew 143 entries who generated a prize pool of $42,900. The top 15 positions got paid, with payouts starting from $724. The event ran from February 8-9. Day 1 was completed with only 11 remaining players. Those returned for Day 2 to play down to a champion. The unofficial ten-handed final table was set quite quickly and action started with Jason Brewer holding the majority of chips at the table. Renzo was second in chips at that time.

Speaking about his performance at the tournament, the winner said that at first, he tried to maintain his blinds, sitting around 175,000. Once there were only four players remaining at the table, Renzo and his other opponents started making some moves. Eventually, the New Jersey resident captured the title with a double knockout. He eliminated Joshua McGrew from Jupiter, Florida in 2nd place for $7,424 and Jason Brewer from Austin, Texas in 3rd place for $5,359.

Matthew Kaplan from Oveido, Florda finished 4th in the tournament for a payout of $3,938. Ralph Broderick from Boynston Beach, Florida took 5th place for $2,944. Linhkhoune Virath from Nokesville, Virginia received $2,238 for finishing 6th in the event.

Scotter Clark from Marion, Iowa took 7th place for $1,730. One-time gold ring winner Zachary Milchman from Delray Beach, Florida scooped $1,359 for his 8th place in the event. Matthew Silva from Marietta, Georgia finished 9th for $1,085. William Kopp from Brecksville, Ohio took 10th place, collecting $879 for his efforts.

The $365 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better was the sixth event on the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club schedule. This means that there are six more events to be completed and six gold rings to be awarded. The four-day $1,675 Main Event is set to kick off on February 12.
