The final table for Event 5: $365 No Limit Hold’em was occupied by players who can take pride in having a number of previous accomplishments that made them popular to the public. Chad J. Brown and Valerie Novak were the players who made it to the final table for the second time.
Joshua Lowing has been among the WSOPC participants since November while Alex Rocha was the player famous for having a total of 30 WSOP cashes.
At the end, it was Rocha who emerged victorious to scoop the amount of $11,171 as well as a second ring.
Soon after it became clear who is the champion, Rocha commented on his performance and said that the early chip lead and the fact that he tried to keep pots small were the main factors that helped him win.
He went on to say that he was trying to refrain from getting into unnecessary preflop wars given the stacks depth. Rocha also defined the first double up of Lowing as “the most mentally frustrating” one. He also admitted that he usually does not talk much during his gameplay, but he did not want to make his opponent feel comfortable.
The champion also added that he had made several final table appearances since 2010 when he won his first ring, although the events he has taken part in were not too many for a 5-year span.
As for his performance at Event 5: $365 No Limit Hold’em, he started the heads-up play against Lowing with 1.03 million in chips as compared to Lowing’s 300,000. It took Rocha three hours to eliminate Lowing and send him to the runner-up position. Randy Johnson was the bronze medalist in the competition and scooped the amount of $4,984 for his efforts. The other players who made it to the final table, but were eliminated at some stage were Kenneth Adams, Marshall Tarzy, Victor Culp, Bryan Spadaro.
The player who manages to accumulate the most points in the 12 gold ring events at the Horseshoe Baltimore will be declared the Casino Champion. Each player who cashes in a ring event receives a certain number of points that can be used for the Casino Champion competition and the Global Casino Championship bids granted to the top point earners throughout the entire season.
