Sky Betting & Gaming Announces Internal Promotions

News

Leeds-headquartered online gambling operator Sky Betting & Gaming has announced several important internal promotions across a number of core divisions.

Lee O’Donnell has been promoted to IT Infrastructure and Security Director. Paul McCormick has been moved to the role of Director of Sports Betting Technology. Rob Tuley will now be taking the post of the Gaming Tribe’s Head of Engineering. Last but not least, Steve Birch has been promoted to the position of Commercial Director at Sky Bet.

The company has pointed out that the important appointments were aimed at strengthening its leadership position at a time when the company has been reporting revenue increase and serious headcount growth.

The latest internal promotions came shortly after Sky Betting & Gaming announced that it would invest an approximate of £2.5 million in 40 different early career programs as well as that it would expand its headquarters in Leeds.

Commenting on the announcement about the series of internal promotions, Rob Painter, Brand and HR Director at Sky Betting & Gaming, said that they are “thoroughly deserved” and represented the next stage in the gambling operator’s development as an independent online gaming company.

Mr. Painter further noted that he considers it very pleasing to see employees build careers at Sky Betting & Gaming and that he hopes the announcement will motivate new team members.

The online gambling operator has hired about 400 people since last spring and has recently introduced both software and commercial academies.

Last week, it was announced that Sky Betting & Gaming is taking part in the bid for the acquisition of developer of software solutions for the sports betting and gaming industry OpenBet. The latter company is to be purchased by gaming supplier NYX Gaming for the amount of £270 million. Sky Betting & Gaming is planning to contribute £20 million to the overall sum. In addition, fellow gambling operator William Hill will also back the acquisition by providing £80 million and another £10 million in equity in NYX Gaming.

Here it is important to note that OpenBet and Sky Betting & Gaming signed a five-year deal early this year, under the terms of which the supplier will continue providing the operator with its online and mobile sports betting solutions.
