Stanley Weiss from Nashville, Tennessee was the player to triumph in the multiple starting flight $365 No-Limit Hold’em event, part of the schedule of the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee. He received the amount of $158,768 in a first-place prize and his first gold ring.

Weiss’ victory from last night was not his best poker accomplishment, though. In 2006, the player bested the field of the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown $10,200 Main Event for a payout of $1,320,255.

Although the $365 No-Limit Hold’em was a re-entry event, Weiss said that he did not have to re-buy. The player also explained that he actually never re-buys as he believes that if he has 10,000 chips and cannot do anything with these the first time, there is no need to play a second time.

The $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry was a five-day event with four starting flights. It attracted quite a massive field of 3,067 entries who generated a total of $920,100. The prize pool was distributed to the first 324 finishers, with min-cash totaling $616.

The event’s final day started with 10 players returning to play down to a champion. The unofficial ten-handed final table was led by Josh Snodgrass with a total of 6,145,000 in chips. Weiss was sixth in chips at the time. However, the 69-year-old player survived through the day to face Snodgrass in a final heads-up match. Two-handed play kicked off with Weiss holding more than two times more chips than his only remaining opponent.

Weiss needed almost three hours of play to sent Snodgrass to the rail. Eventually, the player from Catletttsburg, Kentucky had to console himself with the runner-up finish and a payout of $98,211 for his deep run into the tournament.

William Buckmaster from Atlanta, Georgia took 3rd place for $69,504. James Tian from Buford, Georgia finished 4th, good for $50,311. Alan Percal from Weston, Florida collected $36,841 for taking 5th place in the event. Randy Garcia from Charlotte, North Carolina took home the amount of $27,290 for his 6th place.

Eli Loewenthal from Carmel, Indiana took 7th place for $20,445. Anes Kovacevic from Lawrenceville, Georgia finished 8th for $15,485. Brandon Mcpherson from Florence, South Carolina was paid $11,860 for taking 9th place. Juan Mendoza from Wilmington, North Carolina took 10th place in the tournament, scooping $9,183 of the prize pool.

The $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry was the second event on the 2015/16 Harrah’s Cherokee schedule. There are a total of 12 gold ring events to be played at the North Carolina-located venue, which is actually playing host to the penultimate stop of the 2015/16 season of the WSOP Circuit. The casino will also welcome players for the first-ever WSOP Global Casino Championship, which is set to run from August 9-11.
