Ukrainian professional poker player Eugene Katchalov has announced on his Twitter page that he has decided to part ways with PokerStars after a five-year collaboration with the popular poker brand. With that said, Katchalov is no longer a member of Team PokerStars Pro.

The player joined the cluster of poker personalities to be representing the world’s biggest poker room back in 2011. Since then, the two parties have worked together on a number of initiatives related mainly to the popularization of the game in Ukraine.

At the time Katchalov joined Team PokerStars Pro, he had already made a name for himself and had captured a number of important titles. Here it is important to note that the Ukrainian had formerly won a PCA $100,000 Super High Roller tournament for $1.5 million and had become one of the players to have taken down one of the largest WPT events in terms of prize pool generated. Winning the 2007 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic WPT $15,400 Main Event, he had collected a little less than $2.5 million.

At present, the player boasts quite an impressive portfolio of poker achievements and has a total of $8,669,109 in live tournament earnings.

As mentioned above, Katchalov announced his decision to part ways with PokerStars with a statement on his Twitter page. The player pointed out that it has been absolute pleasure to be working with the poker brand’s team for the past five years. He further noted poker has grown quite a lot in Ukraine over the said period and that he is proud to have contributed to this.

Commenting on his plans for the future, the Ukrainian said that he would keep on playing poker worldwide and would continue working at the same time on the further promotion and popularization of the game in his home country. The player also pointed out that he would focus his attention particularly on the full and proper legalization of the game in Ukraine. In addition, Katchalav plans to deploy his poker skills in entrepreneurship in a bid to improve and further grow poker in the country from the business side as well.

To sum up, it seems that the player has big ambitions for improving the poker environment in his home country.
