Norsk Tipping Appoints Åsne Havnelid as New CEO

Norsk Tipping, one of Norway’s two state-run gambling operators, announced the appointment of Åsne Havnelid as Chief Executive. Ms. Havnelid is to replace Torbjørn Almlid on the post. Mr. Amlid announced that he was to depart back in March.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Havnelid has served as Secretary General for Norway’s Red Cross for five years. Here it is important to note that the Norwegian Red Cross annually receives contribution from the revenue generated by Norsk Tipping.

Ms. Havnelid is to join the gambling operator this fall. After a consultation period with the company’s current CEO, she will take on full responsibilities towards the end of the year.

Commenting on the latest announcement, Norsk Tipping Chairwoman Linda Bernander Silseth said that she is very pleased and proud to be presenting Ms. Havnelid as the state-owned operator’s new CEO, especially given her broad background and considerable experience on key roles within business and a number of other sectors.

Norsk Tipping’s Chair further expressed confidence that the company’s CEO is perfectly capable to uphold its position as a provider of gambling options and an important part of the country’s society.

Ms. Havnelid herself told media that she is happy, excited, and humbled at the same time to be offered the opportunity to lead the gambling operator, which has established itself as a prominent contributor to the society. She also pointed out that she is looking forward to becoming part of the company’s activities related to the provision of attractive gaming offering and securing the contribution of substantial funds to as many good causes as possible.

Other Norsk Tipping officials told local media that they have most certainly found the most suitable replacement to Mr. Almlid as the gambling operator’s new Chief Executive has a solid background in commercial management and in working for various governmental organizations.

Norsk Tipping is one of the two companies allowed to provide gambling options within Norway’s borders, with Norsk Rikstoto being the other. The operator was established back in 1948. It has been managing since then sports betting operations, lottery, and instant games. Both Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto are run by Norway’s government.
