Paul Cherry Replaces Dean Shannon as Ladbrokes Australia CEO

News

Gambling operator Ladbrokes announced that Paul Cherry has been appointed as CEO of its Australian division. Mr. Cherry is currently taking the Chief Operating Officer post at Ladbrokes Australia and will assume his new role in February 2017 to replace current Chief Executive Dean Shannon.

Mr. Cherry has been with Ladbrokes Australia since the division was established. As COO, it has been his main responsibility to make sure that the company keeps growing in terms of product development. Under his supervision, Ladbrokes introduced products like Ladbrokes Card and Ladbrokes Cash In, with those being the first ones of this kind to be offered within the gambling industry. During his tenure as COO, the Betstar brand was successfully integrated into Ladbrokes’ operations.

As for Mr. Shannon, the current Ladbrokes Australia CEO, it has been announced that he is leaving his post for personal reasons. However, he will not cut his ties with the gambling operator completely, as he will continue contributing to its growth and development as an advisor. He will also ensure that the business is smoothly transitioned to Mr. Cherry.

Commenting on the latest announcement, Ladbrokes CEO Jim Mullen said that Mr. Shannon has been instrumental to the gambling operator’s rapid growth and overall success in Australia as he has gained a wide customer base and has created a “challenger brand” through innovation.

Of the newly appointed Ladbrokes Australia CEO, Mr. Mullen said that Mr. Cherry was also an important part of the company’s management team since the division was established in Australia about three years ago. The executive expressed confidence that the company’s team is capable of taking the business to its next stage of growth and development.

Mr. Shannon said that he has enjoyed his time in the business and that he is very proud with their achievements in the Australian gambling market. The current Ladbrokes Australia CEO noted that with a management team focused on metrics and being passionate about what it is doing, the company would certainly grow even further.

Of his replacement, the executive said that Mr. Cherry has been the natural choice as he has made a name for himself as a talented executive.
