WSOP Circuit Makes Caribbean Debut with St. Maarten Poker Festival

Events & Reports

The WSOP Circuit is well into its thirteen season. This year, one of the most popular poker tours, particularly in the United States but not only, is set to feature more stops than ever. The 2016/17 WSOP Circuit schedule includes 22 poker festivals around the US, with those slated to take place from August 2016 all the way through May 2017. In addition, organizers of the prominent poker series have also announced that a total of 14 stops in different exciting locations outside the US will be featured so as to offer international players more chances to be presented with the thrill of taking part in a WSOP Circuit event and win a shiny gold ring.

Although nothing can compare to winning a WSOP gold bracelet, the WSOP Circuit gold rings have also proved to be attractive non-monetary prizes for both US and non-US players over the past thirteen years. What is more, running throughout the greater part of the year, the Circuit series represents an excellent way for players to keep themselves warmed-up and well-trained for the massive WSOP poker festival in Las Vegas, the one that every year attracts tens of thousands of players from all four corners of the world under the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino’s roof.

Even though a lot could be written about the WSOP, it has been almost completed (the $10,000 Main Event champion is to be determined late in October) and it only seems fair that more attention should be channeled towards the ongoing WSOP Circuit. As mentioned above, the poker tour’s new season will include 14 international stops, with all of them being really exciting destinations.

Not long ago, organizers announced one such destination, a place where the Circuit has not been before but expects to be welcomed kindly. The Caribbean region is no stranger to big poker action, with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure annually gathering together the game’s most prominent names for years now. However, the WSOP Circuit has never been there before or rather not until now.

Casino Royale at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in St. Maarten will welcome the poker tour for a thirteen-day festival from November 3-16. As many as 38 different tournaments are slated to take place within what has been announced as the WSOP Circuit Caribbean Festival. Of these, there will be 9 gold ring ones as well as a championship event with a buy-in fee of $1,675 and a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000. Players who prefer cash game action will be indulged with cash games every day over the festival’s span.

To people who are well-acquainted with the best poker destinations in the Caribbean region the choice of Casino Royale as the host venue for the WSOP International Circuit festival is not a surprise. In the first place, it is important to note that the gambling property is the largest one of its kind not only in St. Maarten, but also on the Saint Martin island as a whole. What is more, the casino and its staff certainly know how to handle a major poker event and to pamper its participants as it has already played host to such events.
