PokerStars Brings Online Championship of Poker Festival to New Jersey

Shortly after PokerStars announced that the 2016 PokerStars Festival – New Jersey will take place in the Garden State from November 1-5, world’s biggest online poker room unveiled another exciting poker festival, with this one intended for online players.

The inaugural New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP) will be running from October 15-31 on PokerStars’ New Jersey website – PokerStarsNJ.com. The exciting poker festival will feature 43 events with buy-in fees of between $15 and $1,000. Players will also have the chance to qualify for these via satellites that have already been kicked off on the card room’s New Jersey website.

NJCOOP is yet another initiative aimed at promoting the PokerStars brand across New Jersey, known to be one of three US states where online gambling is legal. The online poker room entered the local market earlier this year and its presence there has already contributed significantly to its overall growth.

Local players are now offered three consecutive weeks of poker excitement both on the online and live tournament scene in an effort for PokerStars and parent company Amaya to further popularize the brand and the thrill the game of poker offers.

Entries in the the NJCOOP tournaments will be able to win a share of a guaranteed of $1.2 million in prize money. The $500 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 will be the highlight tournament. The event will be a two-day one and will take place on October 30-31. The single-day $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller is yet another tournament worth mentioning. The event will be played on October 10 and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.

Team PokerStars Pro and regular Twitch broadcaster Jason Somerville said that he is really excited that the Championship of Online Poker is being brought to New Jersey and that local players will be given the chance to experience the buzz of chasing the big money and prestigious poker titles. The poker pro also noted that he will be both playing in the NJCOOP and will be streaming his hunt for a title in the festival’s inaugural year on his Twitch channel.
