Malta debuted as a stop on the EPT schedule last spring during the biggest European poker tour’s eleventh season. Held at Portomaso Casino in St. Julian’s, the EPT Malta poker festival turned into instant success last year and has hosted the tournament series several more times since then. The gambling venue is also slated to play host to the penultimate EPT stop on October 18-29.
Earlier this year, PokerStars announced that it would combine all international tours it sponsors into a single PokerStars Championship. In other words, poker brands like the European Poker Tour, the Latin American Poker Tour, the UK and Ireland Poker Tour, and several more will no longer exist in their current form. However, given the popularity Malta has enjoyed as an EPT host, the beautiful island will certainly be kept in the list of destinations that will be welcoming the new PokerStars Championship in future.
As mentioned above, the EPT Malta poker festival will take place from October 18 through October 29. Another important thing to take into account is the fact that the EPT has once again joined forces with the Italian Poker Tour, which certainly comes as a double treat for both players and fans of the game.
The exciting festival will be kicked off with a €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em Single Re-Entry 8-Handed event as well as with two satellite events to the IPT Main Event. The actual IPT Main Event with a buy-in fee of €300 will take place on October 19-23.
The €25,750 High Roller Single Re-Entry, starting October 21, is yet another event worth mentioning. EPT’s high roller tournaments are particularly popular, with some of the world’s most popular poker players being regular entries in those. The IPT will, too, feature a high roller event. It will be a €2,200 buy-in one and will be held on October 22-23. A €10,200 Single Day No-Limit Hold’em event and a €10,300 High Roller tournament are scheduled for October 24 and October 27-29, respectively.
Last but not least, the penultimate EPT €5,300 Main Event is set to run from October 23-29. The tournament will kick off at noon local time on October 23. It will feature two starting flights played over two separate days and five more days of play.
International players interested to enter any of the events to take place within the upcoming festival will have to be aged 18 or above. As for Maltese nationals, they will need to be aged 25 or above in order to be admitted to Portomaso Casino.
