Hollywood Park Casino announced it’s planning a grand opening for October 21 to introduce its renovated facility. The revitalized gambling venue is part of Inglewood’s City of Champions Revitalization Project and aims at attracting more visitors to the area.
The casino is giving away $1 million in prizes as part of the celebrations. As many as 1,000 patrons of the casino are presented with the opportunity to win commemorative coins and other free memorabilia. In addition, a celebrity poker tournament will be held on October 22 but the guest list is currently kept confidential.
The renovated facility is located just minutes away from Downtown Los Angeles, in close proximity to LAX airport. Hollywood Park Casino’s General Manager, Deven Kumar, revealed the renovated venue is 40% larger. The gaming floor has been expanded to 110,000 square feet. Kumar also stated there is a 20% increase in high limit for the VIP gaming area.
There are 35 more gaming tables in the venue, which makes up for a total of 65 California tables and 60 poker tables. The venue’s four-story parking accommodates 1,600 vehicles. Players can refresh themselves in the casino’s new restaurant or try a selection of craft beers and specialty cocktails in the facility’s elegant Raise Lounge.
The gambling venue has a rich history as it opened doors in 1938. The facility featured a racetrack, which was frequented by celebrities the likes of Walt Disney, Bing Crosby and the Warner Brothers. In 1994, a casino was added to the venue. The racetrack was closed in 2013.
For the past few years, Hollywood Park Casino has been struggling to compete with neighboring gambling venues. The Bicycle Casino, located in nearby Bell Gardens, stepped up its game and added several new facilities to its property, including a hotel, an outdoor pool deck and a spa. The San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in Highland also went through a significant transformation – the size of its VIP gaming room increased and its patrons were given the opportunity to enjoy a new Asian-themed gaming room.
These renovations resulted in Hollywood Park Casino losing a significant part of its clientele to improved rival venues. Its owners, Stockbridge Capital Group, had no choice but to invest in the gambling facility’s renovation.
Kumar shared revitalizing the facility aims at making Hollywood Park Casino California’s premier gambling and entertainment destination. According to the casino’s General Manager, the renovation will bring in new jobs to the area and increase Inglewood’s overall revenue.
