Ben Winsor won the partypoker WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn, beating out a massive field of 1,835 entries, to scoop a first-place prize of £150,000 and the tournament trophy. The player was the last one standing on Monday when the event’s final day was played.
The partypoker WPT500 tournament featured five starting flights and two more days of play. Day 3 was the last one to be played within the event. It began with 53 players left and by the end of the day, what had remained of the field was whittled down to a winner.
The nine-handed final table was set relatively quickly. It started with Marian Flesar as the chip leader, holding a total of 10,725,000 in chips. Winsor was middle-stacked at the beginning of final-table play. From that point on, it took exactly 100 hands for the names of the two heads-up opponents to become clear.
Keith Cummins was Winsor’s heads-up opponent. The two players battled it out for three hands only. Thus, Hand #103 of the tournament’s final table turned out to be the last one for the evening. With blinds at 400,000/800,000, Winsor raised to 2,000,000 pre-flop and Cummins moved all in. Winsor called, tabling [8s][8d]. His opponent showed [Ac][10h]. The board ran out [Jh][Kd][4d][7h][5d] without giving Cummins the chance to improve. Eliminated in 2nd place, the player collected £90,000 for his deep run in the tournament.
As mentioned above, Winsor added £150,000 or $182,700 to his previous live tournament earnings of $705,344. Over the years, the player has cashed in multiple events held across the UK. Last November, he topped the field of the GUKPT Grand Final £2,125 Main Event, scooping his best live cash of £178,600.
Will Davies finished 3rd in the partypoker WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn tournament for £60,000. Jav Javed took 4th place, good for £40,000. John Bonadies collected £27,250 for finishing 5th. Start-of-the-day chip leader Marian Flesar received £20,000 for his sixth-place finish. Andrew Hulme was eliminated in 7th place for a payout of £15,000. Jack Hoffmann finished 8th, taking home £12,000. Charalampos Lappas rounded out the event’s official final table for £8,800.
The event was a £550 buy-in one and featured £1 million in guaranteed prize money. There were 1,835 entries to pay the fee, thus failing to beat the guaranteed prize pool. The top 60 finishers received a portion of the money.
