PokerStars Launches ‘Beat the Clock’ Timed Online Tournaments

News

PokerStars has introduced new ‘Beat the Clock’ timed tournaments for its desktop client and mobile app, turning to football star Cristiano Ronaldo to promote the new product.

The ‘Beat the Clock’ tournaments are five-minute, four-handed Zoom ones that offer players “rapid-fire” poker action and attractive payouts. To win a share of the prize money, tournament entries only need to avoid elimination until the clock runs out. The prize pool is then distributed to those who have survived based on the size of their chip stacks.

PokerStars explained that its new game is perfect for those of its customers who prefer playing shorter poker sessions that offer as thrilling experience as regular ones. The ‘Beat the Clock’ tournaments are also believed to be found attractive by beginner players who want to develop their poker skills and acquaint themselves with poker’s competitive side.

The games are already available to both desktop and mobile customers. As mentioned above, the popular online poker room has once again engaged Team SportsStar member Cristiano Ronaldo to promote its new product. Ronaldo will be starring the ‘Beat the Clock’ advertising campaign, which is set to feature visually-stimulating commercials.

Commenting on the newly introduced tournament format, the Portuguese football star said that ‘Beat the Clock’ requires a player to think and act in a quick and skillful manner and playing a game of this type resembles the excitement he experiences when on the pitch.

PokerStars Director of Poker Innovation and Operations Severin Rasset said that their latest product was launched as part of their strategy to constantly upgrade and innovate their offering. The official further noted that the ‘Beat the Clock’ tournaments are particularly suitable for mobile players who want to experience all the thrill poker offers in just five minutes.

Headquartered in Isle of Man, PokerStars operates the world’s largest online poker room. Licensed by the Isle of Man and Malta gambling authorities, its .com and .eu websites service millions of players all over the world. In addition, the poker brand holds licenses and other operational approvals in 16 different jurisdictions.

PokerStars is part of the Rational Group, which was purchased by Canadian gambling giant Amaya Inc. back in 2014 in what turned out to be the most expensive deal in the online gambling industry at that time.
