Noah Boeken, one of the most successful Dutch players, has added another title to his poker portfolio. Boeken triumphed in the 2016 Master Classics of Poker €10,250 High Roller 8-Max Re-Entry event that took place at Holland Casino Amsterdam over the past several days. Topping the tournament’s field, the player collected €217,069 and a special MCOP plate awarded to every winner within the festival.
Boeken came out victorious over a field of 74 entries. Aside from him, ten more players received a share of the €732,604 prize pool. Although the high roller event was scheduled to run over two days, an additional third day was played for the winner to be determined.
Out of all 74 tournament entries, Boeken eventually faced heads-up UK’s Charlie Carrel. Despite the Englishman’s excellent poker skills, it was the Dutch player to come into possession of the winner’s plate and the lion’s share of the prize pool.
Carrel has had quite a run during this year’s MCOP edition. The UK player has cashed in four MCOP events so far, bagging more than €200,000 in prize money. Several days ago, he finished 3rd in the inaugural MCOP €25,000 Super High Roller tournament, good for a payout og €64,350. Carrel collected more than twice as much – €144,615 to be precise – for his runner-up finish in the €10,250 High Roller event.
Including Boeken’s most recent victory, the player now sports a bankroll of more than $2 million in live tournament winnings, which makes him his home country’s ninth most profitable player. Boeken is known in the poker community as the first Dutch player to have ever won an EPT Main Event. He achieved that back in 2005, during the popular poker festival’s inaugural season. Boeken outlasted the field of the EPT Season 1 Copenhagen DKR20,000 Main Event for DKR1,098,340 ($191,355) in prize money.
As for his accomplishments in his home country, the player has been a frequent entry in MCOP events over the years. In 2013, he even won the €4,250 Main Event for his largest live cash of €306,821. Boeken will probably do his best to win this year’s edition of the tournament. He secured a seat into Day 2 of the Main Event by surviving through its first starting flight. This made it possible for him to take part in the €10,250 High Roller. Boeken entered the latter tournament at the very last possible moment.
Following his high roller victory, the player is now set to return for Day 2 of the 2016 MCOP Main Event together with the other survivors. Day 2 play is set to begin today at 2 pm local time. The remaining hopefuls will play 75-minute levels.
