Swedish mobile casino company LeoVegas today announced that it is now live in Denmark. The gambling operator received a gaming license by the country’s gambling regulator – Spillemyndigheden – back in October.
LeoVegas said in an early Thursday press release that pre-launch preparations had gone as planned and the company had thus been able to launch operations in yet another European regulated iGaming market.
Commenting on the announcement, LeoVegas CEO Gustaf Hagman said that they are really happy to make their product available to Danish players. The executive further noted that they consider their entrance into the local market another important step in their expansion efforts.
With the company now operating in Denmark, it will be looking to consolidate its position as a leading mobile casino provider there as well as on an international scale. Here it is important to note that LeoVegas is the first purely mobile gambling operator to enter the Danish iGaming market. The company has previously said that a team with knowledge of the local industry will be working with Danish customers to attend to their demands in an adequate manner.
According to estimates by gambling industry market analysis firm H2 Gambling Capital, the Danish iGaming market is worth DKK4.6 billion ($666.3 million/€618.4 million). Online casino and sports betting revenue for the third quarter of 2016 exceeded DKK910 million. Denmark regulated its market in 2012 and opened it for interested international operators.
Owned by Swedish gambling group LeoVegas AB, LeoVegas’s operations are based in Malta, while its technical development studio is located in Sweden. The parent company has been investing heavily in both desktop and mobile gaming companies as well as in businesses focused on the creation of products and services for the iGaming industry.
In addition to its Danish online gaming license, LeoVegas also holds licenses from the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. The company has pinned entrance into various regulated and soon-to-be-regulated jurisdictions as a key objective in its growth and expansion strategy.
To attain brand recognition among Danish customers, LeoVegas has said that it will boost marketing costs and will analyze every possible marketing channel as it considers channel analysis the basis for customer acquisition optimization.
