A little more than a month after Qui Nguyen won the 2016 WSOP $10,000 Main Event after a fantastic run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the World Series of Poker has unveiled a rough schedule for the 48th annual edition of the world’s longest running poker tour.
The 2017 WSOP will take place from May 30-July 17. Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino will once again play host to the globally popular festival, just as it has done over the past thirteen years.
The WSOP has promised its 2017 schedule will include a little something for every poker player and fan of the game and its multiple variants. Popular events like the Millionaire Maker, the Little One for ONE DROP, the Ladies Championship, the Seniors Event, and the Monster Stack have all been confirmed to be part of the 48th annual series.
The poker community has also been happy to be informed that the Colossus will, too, be included in the WSOP’s schedule for a third consecutive year. The $565 buy-in tournament was introduced in 2015 and has since then broken any record possible. In 2015, it was entered by a total of 22,374 entries, thus becoming the event to have attracted the largest field ever. During this summer’s WSOP festival, the Colossus attracted more than 21,000 entries.
The 2017 edition of the highly popular event will be played over three days, June 2-4, and will include a re-entry option, making it possible for players who get busted far too early to try their luck again.
As every year, the upcoming WSOP festival will begin with the Casino Employees event. Overall, the 48th Series will feature more than 70 gold bracelet events; it is yet to be announced how many exactly. Satellites to the larger tournaments, cash games, and daily deep stack tournaments will also be included in the schedule, as organizers have revealed. The complete and comprehensive 2017 WSOP calendar is expected to be released in early 2017.
Traditionally, the festival will conclude with the $10,000 Main Event. In 2017, what has been generally recognized as the world’s most prestigious No-Limit Hold’em tournament will take place from July 8 through July 17 when the names of the nine finalists are set to become known. It is yet to be announced when exactly the November Niners will return to play the official final table and determine the winner.
In order to accommodate the multitude of players who are to gather together for the 2017 WSOP, the host venue will set up close to 500 poker tables across more than 100,000 square feet of space.
