Poker Tournaments to Start between January 2-8

A new year is upon us and what better way to celebrate its arrival but with some poker action at exciting destinations. Cambodia, Italy, Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Bahamas are four such destinations that will host this week’s major poker festivals. Players from all around the globe will certainly be looking for a nice way to start off 2017 with considerable bankroll boosters and the above places will offer them the opportunity.

WPT National Cambodia

The WPT National will kick off 2017 in style. The first poker festival on the tournament series’ 2017 schedule is set to take place at Queenco Casino and Hotel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia from January 2-13. As usual, a multitude of tournaments will be included in the festival, so players are guaranteed quality poker action and excitement.

A quick look at the WPT National Cambodia’s schedule shows that it will include a total of 27 different events as well as satellites to some of those. The festival will be opened with a multiple starting flight $250 buy-in event – the Queenco Cup Warm Up.

Three high roller events will also be among the most exciting events to take place as part of the WPT National Cambodia. The first – a two-day $3,000 High Roller – is slated to begin on January 5. The other two such events are scheduled to kick off on January 12. These are a $5,055 Super High Roller and a $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller.

The Main Event will be running from January 6 through January 11. The tournament will feature a buy-in fee of $1,350 and will commence with three starting flights, played over three separate days.

Italian Poker Open 23

The 23rd edition of the Italian Poker Open is set for January 5-9. Casinó Campione d’Italia will play host to the festival. Its schedule includes six tournaments and several satellites to those. The €550 IPO Main Event will run from January 5-9. It will feature two starting flights and three more days of action at the host venue’s tables.

Another noteworthy event will be the €1,100 No-Limit Hold’em IPO Master. This one will take place from January 7-9.

2017 Million Dollar Heater

Beau Rivage Resort & Casin in Biloxi, Mississippi will be heating for what will hopefully be a year full of excitement for poker. The Million Dollar Heater will take place at the gambling venue on January 5-16. Its schedule features fourteen events, some of which offering guaranteed prize pools of up to $600,000.

A $345 No-Limit Hold’em event with a $600,000 guaranteed prize pool is slated to begin on January 6. The event will be a three day one and will feature four starting flights, played over two days.

The $2,700 Main Event will run from January 14-16. It will give players the chance to win a portion of a guaranteed $300,000 prize pool by entering during any of the two starting flights.

PokerStars Championship Bahamas

As it became clear last year, the PokerStars Championship Bahamas will succeed the widely popular PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The festival is set to take place on January 6-14 and the host venue will be the well-recognized Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas Casino.

Players who will travel to Paradise Island in the Bahamas will not only be able to bask in the Caribbean sun but also to enter as many poker events on the PokerStars Championship Bahamas schedule as they wish. The festival will feature more than 90 tournaments, cash games, and a number of other entertainment options.

Players who are packing up for the Bahamas will be happy to learn that the first major poker event of the year will start off with a $100,000 PokerStars Championship Super High Roller. There will be another high roller tournament to take place within the festival – the $25,750 one. It will run from January 12-14.

The $5,000 Main Event, yet another highlight tournament and probably the most highly anticipated one, is slated to begin on January 8 and to run up to January 14.
