PokerStars Championship Barcelona, the successor of the highly successful EPT Barcelona stop, is just around the corner and organizers have begun revealing multiple surprises for both participants and fans of the game.

PokerStars announced on Monday that German Grammy-winning DJ and producer Zedd will take part in the festival’s Main Event and will also entertain participants with a special 90-minute set as part of the PokerStars Player Party. The event is set to take place on August 21 at one of Barcelona’s hottest spots – the Opium Barcelona nightclub.

Music fans know Zedd for his collaborations with a number of popular artists, with Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Skrillex being only few of them. However, what many might not know is that Zedd is a keen poker enthusiast.

The popular musician told PokerStars that he has a custom made poker table at his home and that he frequently plays with friends. As mentioned above, Zedd will now be able to try his luck and skills against other poker enthusiasts and some of the world’s best poker professionals.

The PokerStars Championship Barcelona €5,300 Main Event is scheduled to take place on August 21-27 and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of €7 million. Zedd will be joined at the tables of Casino Barcelona by Team PokerStars Pro members Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand Grospellier, Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos, and many more.

US comedian Kevin Hart, who was recently signed as PokerStars brand new ambassador, will also take part in the major tournament. Hart has been a constant presence at some of the major live poker events to have taken place since the beginning of 2017, entertaining table mates and impressing with skills. Hart has vowed to change the face of live poker and to bring the game’s funny side to the surface. And he has done excellent job so far.

Last year, Barcelona played host to one of the final EPT Season 13 stops. Young Pole Sebastian Malec took down the €5,300 Main Event to scoop the first-place payout of €1,271,041 and the tournament trophy. Here it is interesting to note that the player had secured a seat into the tournament by winning a €27 buy-in online satellite.

This year, the inaugural PokerStars Championship Barcelona is set to take place on August 15-27. Aside from the Main Event, the festival will feature a plethora of other tournaments. The PokerStars National Championship with a guaranteed €4-million prize pool is slated for August 16-21. The €50,000 Super High Roller, the highest buy-in event on the schedule, will take place on August 19-21. Last but not least, there will be a €25,500 Single-Day High Roller on August 22, a €10,300 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller on August 23-24, and a €10,300 High Roller on August 25-27. The festival’s full schedule can be seen here.
