The final of the three high roller events that took place at Aria Resort & Casino this past weekend concluded on Saturday. The tournament saw Sean Winter make his way through a field of ten participants to emerge victorious for a first-place prize of $175,000. Here it is interesting to note that the player also took down the $10,500 event on Thursday at the gambling venue.
As mentioned above, the $25,000 buy-in tournament was played on Saturday at the popular gambling spot, located in the heart of Las Vegas. As many as ten players comprised its field. They generated a prize pool of $250,000, which was eventually split among the winner and his heads-up opponent.
Winter played the final two-handed battle against Jason Koon. Both players have extensive portfolios of Aria High Roller in-the-money finishes and this certainly helped them survive deep into the event. Eventually, Koon was eliminated in second place to collect $75,000 for his performance in the tournament.
As for the winner, he made quite a run himself this past weekend. Aria Casino featured three high roller tournaments this time – a $10,500 one on Thursday and two $25,000 ones on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Prior to winning Saturday’s event, the player emerged victorious in Thursday’s.
He competed against 23 of the world’s finest high rollers to take down the $10,500 buy-in event. Winter remained the last man standing at the end to take home a $115,000 payout. He played the final heads-up match against Justin Young, the latter earning $62,100 for his second-place finish. Giuseppe Pantaleo and Cary Katz were the other two players to receive payouts from the tournament for finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Winter’s Performance in Previous Aria High Roller Tournaments
Over the course of his poker career, Winter has taken part in a number of Aria High Roller tournaments and has cashed in quite a lot of them, scooping five- and six-figure payouts. The player has scored four in-the-money finishes in such tournaments, winning two of them.
Last November, Winter almost took down a $25,000 High Roller at the gambling venue, but was eventually outwitted by Ali Fazeli to finish second for $230,400.
The last time Winter won an Aria High Roller, prior to this past weekend, of course, was back in 2015. The player took down a field of 24 tournament entries to collect $314,352. Back then, he played against the likes of Barry Hutter and poker superstar Erik Seidel.
Including his latest poker endeavors and accomplishments, Winter’s live poker bankroll now amounts to $5,319,273. The poker pro is yet to improve his best live cash from last January, when he finished runner-up to Nick Maimone in the 2016 PCA $25,000 High Roller 8-Handed. Following a two-way deal the two players had struck, Winter collected the total amount of $914,580, while Maimone lifted the trophy.
