Universal Championship of Poker to Run September 10 to September 24

The Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) announced the third annual Universal Championship of Poker (UCOP III) is to kick off September 10, 2017, with an impressive number of 59 events scheduled for the month. Participants in the annual poker festival will have the opportunity to win a share of the massive pool of €750,000 in guaranteed prizes. The person who earns the title of The Greatest Poker Player in the Universe will go home with €5,000 in prize money and will be awarded a champion’s trophy.

What is new in this year’s edition of the Universal Championship of Poker is the €5,000 Great Players Leaderboard, which aims at rewarding players, who contribute to the game of skill and help it grow for those who are new to poker. Such players contribute to the game by streaming their online poker sessions on Twitch and YouTube or on other social networks, such as Facebook Live.

Poker Streamers will be Rewarded for their Contribution

To honor such participants for their contribution to the game, the MPN will grant additional points to those who have streamed their games and events online. Each live streamed event will earn the player 100 points. In order to qualify for the Great Players Leaderboard one needs to meet specific conditions, however.

To earn points for this Leaderboard, one needs to send a tweet containing a link to the event they have streamed live to the MPN official Twitter account. Another condition is for players worldwide to be able to load and access the stream, with the streamer’s poker nickname and online poker room at the MPN being legible and easy to distinguish. The last condition is for the streamed content to be accessible after the given event has already come to an end.

Players who upload the most interesting daily stream each day for the duration of the Championship will be rewarded with 250 points. There are different criteria for a daily stream to qualify as the most interesting. For instance, the points may be granted to the person who had made the most compelling commentary, to the player boasting the highest quality stream, or to anyone else the MPN management has deemed deserving.

Those who have streamed their action directly from an event’s final table will collect 50 points. This exclusive bonus is awarded once for each event final table the players have streamed. The person who comes first in the Great Players Leaderboard will be rewarded with €2,000 in prize money. There will be live updates of the leaderboard so that players can keep track of their progress.

The event participants are looking forward to this year is the UCOP Main Event which is to utilize the popular No-Limit Hold’em format. In fact, the majority of the 59 tournaments on schedule utilize this format with the exception of three Pot Limit Omaha events. Those interested in signing up for this tournament can buy their way in for €320 and potentially bag a cut of the €75,000 guaranteed in prize money. No re-buys are allowed for the UCOP Main Event, which is to commence on September 24, 2017.

All online poker providers that run on the Microgaming Poker Network will partake in the third annual Universal Championship of Poker. Players who lack the funds to buy their way into one of the 59 tournaments can join one of the satellites at the cost on €0.11 only.
