Philipp Zukernik Takes partypoker MILLIONS Russia $5,300 Main Event Day 3 Chip Lead

The partypoker MILLIONS Russia $5,300 Main Event remained just as packed with action during its Day 3 of play as it has been since kicking off at the recently launched Sochi Casino and Resort. Hosting a second major live festival, the venue has already made a powerful statement that it strives to become a popular poker destination.

Sochi Casino and Resort played host to the PokerStars Championship series before welcoming partypoker for its latest Live Millions festival.

Day 3 of the partypoker Main Event was played on Tuesday. It saw 227 remaining survivors be whittled down to just 53 contenders. They bagged and tagged to return to the host venue today and further reduce the tournament’s field. And speaking of the Main Event’s field, here it is a good place to note that the tournament scored record attendance, breaking the record for the largest live poker event to have ever taken place in Russia.

There were 999 participants to enter the Main Event. In comparison, the PokerStars Championship Main Event, which took place at the same casino resort back in May, attracted 387 entries.

Day 3 Chip Leader and Action Recap

Day 3 of play began with Belarus’ Sergey Verkhoturov as the chip leader. However, the player lost his momentum from the previous day and was eventually eliminated in 94th place, scooping a payout of $10,000.

The 227 players who returned for Day 3 at Sochi Casino and Resort had one important task before them – to burst the money bubble. Russian player Natalia Panchenko was the first one to leave the tournament with a payout. She finished 161st in the tournament, collecting $5,000.

Czech Republic’s Philipp Zukernik eventually bagged the largest stack for the day. The player had accumulated 40.7 million in chips by the time organizers called it a day. He was closely followed by Russia’s Karen Arutyunyan, who had 40.175 million in his bag at the end of Day 3 play.

The Day 3 chip leader comes fresh from a seventh-place finish in the partypoker MILLIONS Russia $10,300 High Roller, which took place last week. The player collected $68,400 for his deep run in that tournament.

Zukernik has quite some experience on the live poker stage. The player has earned $265,375 from 38 live tournaments since 2013 when his first cash was recorded. He has taken part in a number of prestigious events, including ones presented by PokerStars, 888, and partypoker, among others.

Day 4 of play has already kicked off at Sochi Resort and Casino and the 53 finalists will be striving to survive yet another tournament day and eventually secure a spot at the final table. It is set to be played on Thursday, when the finalists will determine the winner. The Main Event champion is set to collect the amount of $1.1 million, thus marking the end of a record-breaking tournament.
