Catalin Pop Wins Gold Ring from WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov Event #7

The WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov has reached its halfway point, with seven lucky players now celebrating their gold ring event victories. Besting the field of the latest gold ring event that took place as part of the King’s Casino-hosted festival, Romania’s Catalin Pop now has a piece of WSOP Circuit gold and has added another title to his growing portfolio.

Pop took down the single-day €600 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty Hunter or Ring Event #7 on the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov’s rich schedule. The tournament was played on Wednesday and saw 171 tournament entries clash for the title and the piece of WSOP Circuit jewelry. The prize pool of €63,270 was split among the top 21 finishers, and it is also important to note that there were a number of King’s Casino frequenters among the final 21.

Despite the tough competition, Pop eventually made it to the final table and sped through it to claim the title. Italy’s Micky Blasi turned out to be Pop’s last opponent before he was able to pose with the gold ring and with a big happy smile on his face. Blasi was eventually eliminated in second place for a €10,345 share of the prize pool, after failing to hold up against Pop’s pocket queens in the most important all-in confrontation within the tournament.

Here it is also interesting to note that Jan Jobmann, who scooped a gold ring from the Rozvadov festival mere days ago, was also among the players to have survived all the way through the final table. With the momentum gained from Ring Event #6, which Jobmann took down, the player was one of the major contenders for the Event #7 title. The German eventually hit the rail in third place, good for €6,833.

Pop’s Other Notable Achievements in 2017

The year has been truly eventful for the Romanian player. In February, he scored his first major victory in a live poker tournament by winning the 888Live King’s Festival €888 Main Event for a first-place prize of €80,000 and a shiny trophy to remember his accomplishment.

In May, Pop took down another 888Live tournament. That one took place in Barcelona as part of the 888Live Festival Barcelona. The player won a €2,200 High Roller, after outlasting 70 fellow tournament entries. His share of the prize pool totaled €40,000.

Pop’s major live tournament achievements from the past several months have boosted his poker bankroll to nearly $200,000.

There are seven more gold ring events to take place within the ongoing WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov and Pop will probably be seen at the tables of King’s Casino, known to be home to Europe’s largest poker room, vying for more gold rings.

The ongoing WSOP International Circuit is the exciting prelude to the upcoming WSOP Europe. The major poker festival is returning after a two-year hiatus and organizers have promised that the wait will be well worth it. King’s Casino will host the WSOP Europe from October 19 through November 10.

The festival’s schedule includes 11 gold bracelet events, with some of them featuring six-, seven-, and even eight-figure guaranteed prize pools. The €10,350 Main Event is scheduled to run on November 4-10 and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of €4 million.
