Poker Festivals Starting in the Week between January 8-14

With the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure currently taking place, poker eyes are mostly set to the Bahamas and the ongoing poker festivities there. However, the new week is set to bring a new batch of poker excitement as several major poker festivals are slated to kick off within the next few days, and some of them will run all the way through March. Here is a little bit more about these poker events and where, when, and how players can enter them.

WPT LA Poker Classic

The WPT LA Poker Classic festival is traditionally one of the most popular WPT Main Tour events to take place within the series’ schedule each year. This year’s edition of the major poker event is slated to kick off on January 9. Players will be more than welcome to join action at Commerce Casino in Commerce, California, a popular poker spot for poker pros and enthusiasts from all over the West Coast and beyond.

As usual, the LA Poker Classic schedule will be rich in events, with those being played in different poker variants and formats, featuring buy-in fees of up to $25,000, and offering entries the chance to earn six- and even seven-figure payouts.

The exciting festival will kick off on January 9 with a seven-day, multiple starting flight No-Limit Hold’em event with a $350 buy-in fee and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. Omaha, Triple Stud, Stud 8 or Better, and H.O.R.S.E. tournaments are scheduled to take place in the coming days.

It is also important to note that the festival will run through March 1. The Main Event will take place from February 24 through March 1, when the televised final table will be played. Entries will have to pay $10,000 in order to be able to play in the event. While the event’s prize pool is yet to be determined, organizers have already announced that the winner will receive a first-place prize of $1 million.

WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida will also be playing host to a WPT Main Tour festival from later this week. The Lucky Hearts Poker Open will take place from January 10 to January 24 at the popular casino.

It will begin with a six-day No-Limit Hold’em tournament with a buy-in fee of $1,100 and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.

The festival’s schedule includes a number of other No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E., and Omaha 8 or Better events, with some of those featuring guaranteed prize pools of up to $1 million.

The six-day Main Event is slated for January 19. Players will contend for a share of the guaranteed $2 million in prize money and mostly for the title. They will be able to enter the prestigious tournament by paying the buy-in fee of $3,500. There will also be satellites for the Main Event as well as for some of the other events. The precise days on which these are to take place could be found on WPT’s official website.

WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley

Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California is the next host venue for the ongoing season of the WSOP Circuit. The gambling venue will welcome the popular series and those keen to participate in it on January 11 and will host poker action and related festivities all the way through January 22.

As per usual, the WSOP Circuit stop will include 12 gold ring events as well as several more special tournaments. The $1,675 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 will probably be the tournament to attract the greatest attention among players. Aside from a gold ring and the largest share of the prize pool, the event’s winner will also win an automatic seat into the season-ending Global Casino Championship.

Playground Poker Club Winter Festival

The final major tournament to kick off this week will take place in beautiful Canada. To be more precise, Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake will be host to the 2018 edition of the Winter Festival.

The exciting poker event will take place from January 14-31. It will begin with a C$160 No-Limit Hold’em tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of C$100,000. The event is set to begin on January 14 and to be played over five days.

The Playground 1000, or the Main Event, is set for January 26 start. It will feature three starting flights and three more days of play. The event will be a C$1,100 buy-in one with a guaranteed prize pool of C$500,000.
