888 Boosts Its Spanish Sportsbook as New Gambling Licenses Will be Provided

downloadLast Wednesday, 888 Holdings, which operates under the UK gambling legislation, held a poker event in the Spanish capital – Madrid. The event, organized in Casino Gran Via, gathered funds for Forever Dream – a non-profit campaign of the Nacex Foundation. The campaign has the goal to raise funds and increase awareness for children who have brain diseases.

The Prime Poker Challenge Madrid-Barca was held in parallel to the football match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. During the event, an advertising campaign urged attendees to bet through the new Spanish-based sportsbook website of 888 Holdings.

Back in August, 888 Holdings launched its betting website focused on Spanish wagers and since then has been eagerly working on ways to increase the brand-awareness of its new platform. 888.es is happy to report the second highest billing among the online poker market in the country.

The sportspook is maintained by Kambi Sports Solutions. The CEO of Kambi explained that the complete integration process and the on-time delivery that the company offers are key factors to the high quality of the 888 sportsbook. Kambi is implementing an extensive marketing campaign, in order to reach all Spanish punters and make sure they know about 888.es.

In an interview for eGaming Review, the CEO of 888 explained that the company has been motivated by the positive results after its launch two months ago, and says that the motivation and efforts 888 will put in its new platform will increase exponentially. Mr. Frieberger listed the marketing channels through which 888 is being advertised: TV ads, billboards and pitch-side ads on football stadiums. With the marketing tools and expertise that Kambi Sports Solutions provides, Fieberger was happy to report that the visitors and betting numbers of 888.es are growing every day.

The steady growth of 888’s sportsbook may soon be faced with new competitors, due to the recent statement of DGOJ that will soon grant new gambling licenses for online operators. The Spanish authorities stated that they will soon be accepting applications for gambling licenses from operators, which have already been licensed in Spain. The new licenses will be in the category of slots and exchange betting, a category many online operators have expressed interest to access.

The window of opportunity for operators to get their hands on the slots and exchange betting licenses will be open for just thirty days. Currently, the online gaming market has been rewarding just a few websites, as those with less revenue struggle to pay the high gambling taxes and due to the limitations of the current regulations, lower tier operators have little to no alternative to earn a bigger market share. The new slot licenses for 2015 will give a chance to the smaller operators to reach the market leaders.
