Saied Moradi Wins the 2015 RunGoodGear.com Poker Series Main Event

8b2800f782The winner of the 2015 RunGoodGear.com Poker Series Main Event, held at the Downstream Casino Resort, a venue located not far from Joplin, Missouri, has just been announced. Saied Moradi from Kansas City emerged victorious to capture the amount of $27,116, a special RunGoodGear watch and a medallion. The player also secured a seat into the 2015 WSOP Main Event.

The 2015 RunGoodGear.com Poker Series Main Event attracted a total of 328 entrants. Of those, 55 returned for its final day. Jamie Kerstetter, known to be a RunGoodGear Pro, was among the first to be eliminated. He was followed by Duy Nguyen, who started the day as one of the chip leaders.

Only nine players sat at the final table and female poker player Mesgana Tesfalidet was the one to leave it first after she could not hold up against Terry Presley. Tesfalidet received $4,440 for her ninth place.

Although Moradi was the shortest stack at first, he managed to catch up and to capture the title eventually. He sent Dwight Farrell to eighth position and thus, doubled his chips.

Terry Presley, Jeremy Gilmore, and Ryan Tepen, yet another RunGoodGear Pro, were the next to go. The players received the amounts of $6,424, $7,746, and $9,635, respectively.

The four remaining players then decided to strike a four-way deal, which considerably sped up the play. Randy Murfin, Matt Ellis, Joel Nimmo, and Saied Moradi received the amount of $25,000 each. In addition, the winner was given the additional amount of $2,116.

After Murfin and Ellis were eliminated, it became quite clear that Nimmo and Moradi were to face each other in a final heads-up play. The chip lead was exchanged between the two players several times.

Moradi held [As][2c] on what turned out to be the last hand. As for his opponent, he had [2h][2s]. With the board showing [Ac][7d][4c] on the flop, [4c] on the turn, and [Kd] on the river, the name of the champion became known and Nimmo had to settle with the runner-up position.

Moradi shared with interviewers that he was really happy about his victory but also too exhausted to “even think about it”. The Kansas City-based structural engineer also shared that this was not his most impressive tournament score. Yet, he pointed out that he really liked the RunGood Poker Series, calling them an excellent structure that gives players the opportunity to “play some hands”.
