Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Plans a Premier Casino in the EAD

Mere hours ago, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment revealed its decision to build a new fashionable and luxurious casino and entertainment property. The latter will be located in the Edmonton Arena District.

The project is said to create 200 new permanent job positions, as well as to bring up a long-term investment of $32 million to the economy of the area. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment plans to build the casino of its most premium brand as a spectacular entertainment property, which is to offer a variety of options that can meet all customers’ requirements.

The Chief Executive Officer of Gateway – Tony Santo – stated that the new Edmonton Arena District project was altering the local landscape by becoming a part of this “dynamic, world class development”. According to his statement, the Grand Villa Edmonton is expected to provide first-class gaming and entertainment experience.

The new project will be built on over 60,000 square feet, which will make it a truly exceptional one. The construction works are due to start in fall 2015, and the official grand opening is scheduled for summer 2016.

Gateway also revealed that the casino will be a four-story one. It would share a roofline with the Community Rink and will serve as headquarters for the Katz Group and the Oilers Entertainment Group, which would make it a mixed-use one. A retail space is planned to be situated at the new project’s ground level.

The outstanding new building will become the latest addition to the Edmonton Arena District and is hoped to also evolve into an investment-attracting venue.

The announcement of the upscale gaming and entertainment venue in the Edmonton Arena District comes at a time when Gateway has set to replace its Baccarat Casino with the new complex as a top priority. The new property will actually be located nearby the Baccarat Casino, and is expected to become a venue that will be found attractive not only by local players, but also by investors.

Actually, the building of the Baccarat Casino is planned to be destroyed after the construction of the new venue is finalized in summer 2016. The Baccarat Casino was opened in October 1996.

The employees of the Baccarat Casino that currently amount to 200, are planned to be transferred to the new location after the finalization of the project. This means that the Grand Villa Edmonton will have about 400 employees when opened. Job fairs will be held by Gateway in early 2016 in order to assist filling the new positions in advance of the grand opening.
