Alan Sternberg Leads 2017 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale Final Table

Lifestyle

Alan Sternberg is a final table away from his second WPT Main Event title. However, this will not be an easy task to accomplish as the player is set to face some really tough opponents at the final table of the 2017 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale.

Sternberg will begin the event’s final day of play as a chip leader with commanding advantage over the rest of the six-person pack. The player has maintained excellent momentum since Monday, when he completed Day 2 as the one to bag the most chips.

Leading the official final table, Sternberg now has the chance to repeat his success from 2011 when he was crowned victor in the WPT Shooting Star Championship, collecting $1,039,000 for his efforts.

The $10,000 buy-in WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale attracted as many as 349 entries at the tables of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Their buy-in fees generated a prize pool of $3,315,500, which was split in portions for the players occupying the top 44 positions.

Each of the six finalists will leave the tournament with no less than $130,370 in prize money. However, it is more than clear that each of them will be targeting the top prize of $716,088 and the title. The winner will also have his name engraved on the WPT Champions Cup. It is important to note that the first-place prize also includes a $15,000 entry into the WPT Tournament of Champions, with the season-ending event being slated to take place on April 7-9.

However, there are two major events to be completed before the time for the Tournament of Champions comes. The WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale will see its six finalists return at the host venue on Thursday to play down to a winner.

They will be given a day’s rest to devise their strategies for the finale. Six other players will sit today around a poker table at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood to determine the champion of the $3,500 buy-in WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship. Dan Colman is leading the final pack of that tournament.

And here are the six finalists left to battle it out for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Finale title:

Alan Sternberg – 4,605,000
Ryan Riess – 3,090,000
Tim West – 1,995,000
Cliff Josephy – 1,855,000
Terry Schumacher – 1,385,000
Jason Koon – 1,030,000

Sternberg may be the only former WPT Main Tour champion, but he is far from being the only finalist to have enjoyed the poker limelight on one occasion or another. Ryan Reiss is a former WSOP Main Event Champion. The player took down the world’s most prestigious No-Limit Hold’em tournament back in 2013, but now has a good chance to add a WPT trophy to his poker portfolio. What is more, all survivors left at the final table, with Terry Schumacher being the only exception, sport six-figure poker bankrolls.
