Denis Schneider Wins partypoker Grand Prix Gala on New Year’s Eve

Denis Schneider bested on New Year’s Eve the field of the partypoker Grand Prix Gala at King’s Casino Rozvadov for €75,243

The final day of 2018 was a very special one for Germany’s Denis Schneider. The player happened to be at King’s Casino Rozvadov when the world was bidding farewell to the old year, and ended up with a poker title and a nice payout.

The Czech casino, which cemented its reputation of one of Europe’s most popular poker destinations in 2018, hosted the partypoker Grand Prix Gala last month and the €550 Grand Prix Gala with a guaranteed prize pool of €500,000 was the final event to take place within the festival.

The tournament kicked off on December 16 with the first of two online starting flights. Grand Prix Gala action at the host casino began on December 26 with Day 1A. The €550 buy-in tournament featured eight starting flights and two more days of play.

By the time the final day of the event started on December 31, there had been just nine players left to battle it out for the first-place prize of €100,000 and the tournament trophy. Nine-handed action began with Germany’s Hans Joachim Hein as the chip leader. The player had 18.5 million in chips when cards were thrown in the air on Monday. The eventual champion, Denis Schneider, was part of the bottom half of the temporary leaderboard at the time.

Eventually, Schneider was the one to be crowned the victor after striking a four-way deal with Hein, a player nicknamed .mat, and Tonio Marek Roeder. The winner collected a payout of €75,243 and the tournament trophy. Hein took home €55,054 for his efforts, while .mat scooped €53,953, and Roeder was awarded €47,000 for his run in the tournament.
