Kindred Debuts Digital Sportsbook in New Jersey

News

Three months after its New Jersey online casino debut, Kindred Group also went live with online sports betting in the Garden State.

The online gambling group announced Tuesday that its flagship brand – Unibet – now offers sports gambling experience to customers based within New Jersey. This is Kindred’s first online betting product in the US as part of a wider strategy to penetrate as many regulated states as possible.

The operator launched online casino offering with its Unibet brand in New Jersey this past June. Kindred was able to venture into the local market after successfully applying and obtaining a Casino Service Industry Enterprise License from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The gambling group first announced plans to enter the state’s regulated online gambling market last summer when it unveiled a partnership with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.

Kindred’s New Jersey sportsbook is available via desktop and across iOS and Android devices. The operation is powered by European betting technology provider Kambi Group, with which Kindred has worked in Europe and Australia for more than two decades. Kambi is actually a spin-off company of Kindred and the two have maintained close ties since the spin-off in 2014.

The launch of the Kindred’s New Jersey sportsbook followed last month’s announcement that its casino operation had gone live with Scientific Games’ Open Gaming System and Open Platform System technology and content platforms to boost its offering and performance.

Sportsbook Debut

Commenting on their entry into the New Jersey sports betting space, Manuel Stan, SVP Kindred US, said that they are very excited to launch their first US sportsbook and provide local customers with “first-class sports betting experience.”

Mr. Stan added that they have been working hard to be able to go live with sports betting in the US and “are ready and excited to become a part of what most likely will become the largest betting market in the world.”

To celebrate its debut in New Jersey and the US, as a whole, Kindred revealed a new logo of its flagship Unibet brand. The company said that the new logo was fully designed and realized by its in-house creative design team and aimed to “better cater for today’s mobile first environment with high legibility in small digital spaces.”

Aside from the recent launch of its online casino and betting products in New Jersey, Kindred’s near-future expansion strategy includes its entry into the regulated online gambling market of neighboring Pennsylvania. The Keystone State legalized online gaming and sports betting in the fall of 2017 as part of a massive gambling overhaul, but regulated products only began going live this summer.

Kindred said Tuesday that it expects to go live in Pennsylvania in the coming months. To secure its entry in that market, the Malta-headquartered company has partnered with Mohegan Sun Pocono, a hotel and casino resort in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The casino and the online gambling operator have signed a five-year agreement with the option for two five-year extensions.
