Genting’s Resorts World Las Vegas to Bring Blend of Technology and Asian Culture to the Strip

News

Malaysian gaming and hospitality giant Genting Group has offered a glimpse into its newest casino resort, currently under development in the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, and the recently released renderings promise a spectacle of technological wonder combined with modern-meets-traditional Asian vibes in every nook and corner of the property.

Whether what’s seen in the renderings will be successfully materialized remains to be seen in the summer of 2021, the new opening target of the luxury resort. The complex was previously scheduled to open doors in late 2020.

With a price tag of $4.3 billion, Resorts World Las Vegas, the latest property to operate under Genting’s flagship brand, will feature a 110,000-square-foot casino with slot machines, gaming tables, high-limit gaming areas, private gaming salons, a poker room, and a 14,000-square-foot Entertainment Zone that will feature a race and sportsbook and live entertainment.

The resort’s two connected towers – West Tower and East Tower – will house 3,500 guest rooms and suites. Accommodation options will also include luxury villas and penthouses with individual lobby experiences.

Resorts World Las Vegas will further feature 350,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a 220,000-square-foot pool complex with seven pools, including a 1,800-square-foot infinity pool with views of the Las Vegas Strip, a 27,000-square-foot spa, and a rich portfolio of food and beverage outlets. Dining options at the resort will include everything from authentic street food experience to Michelin star restaurants.

A Blend of Modern and Traditional

Genting’s new property will combine traditional and modern architecture with Asian-inspired touches and progressive technology and will look to provide guests with “world-class” experience.

The resort will feature a 50-foot diameter video globe that will display more than 6,000 square feet of LED content. LED content will also be featured on the property’s two towers. The West Tower will have a 100,000-square-foot LED screen, one of the largest in the world, while the East Tower will feature a 19,000-square-foot screen.

Resorts World Las Vegas’ offering will also include a state-of-the-art theater with 5,000 seating capacity that will be able to host A-list residencies and corporate events, and a 75,000-square-foot nightlife/daylife concept.

Genting said of the latest addition to its property portfolio that:

From a lush outdoor pool oasis with bold accents and rustic textures, to an interior color palette of warm gold and cream hues, each space will have its own identity and will be equally as inviting and immersive as it is unique.

Design Update

The recently released renderings represented an updated version of original plans for the property. Resorts World Las Vegas was forced to implement those changes after it was sued by rival Wynn Resorts for copying its flagship properties Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, which are located right across the street from where Genting is developing its resort.

Wynn Resorts filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against its rival late last year. The company claimed that Genting’s mega-complex looked strikingly similar to its own resorts. According to Wynn Resorts its rival had ripped off the signature conclave facade of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore as well as the horizontal banding between floors and the bronze glazing.

Back then, Genting denied those claims and said that its property would look “dramatically different” from Wynn Resorts’ ones. In January, the two companies settled the dispute, with the Malaysian casino and hospitality giant promising to implement the necessary changes to the resort’s design to avoid any further legal challenges.

Genting said early this year that the design updates were not likely to result in delays in the planned late 2020 opening of Resorts World Las Vegas. However, the company said Thursday that the launch of the mega-resort was pushed back to the summer of 2021.
