Jason Mo Wins APPT Seoul Main Event

The APPT Season 9 Seoul KRW3,000,000 Main Event has just been completed with Jason Mo emerging victorious and capturing the tournament trophy and the amount of KRW165,590,200 ($151,359) of the entire prize pool.

As previously reported, the event attracted a total of 241 players, but only 13 survived for its last day. Action resumed in Level 19 and it did not take long before the nine-handed final table was set.

At its beginning, Polish player Daniel Demicki held the majority of chips – 1,287,000, followed by Mo with 988,000 and Canadian Tyler Jennens with 813,000. PokerStars Team Pros Bryan Huang and Celina Lin were also among those seated at the final table.

Japanese Takuya Suzuki was the first to go after he was eliminated by Mo in Level 20. The player was paid the amount of KRW15,780,000. He was quickly followed by Daniel Kneafsey who was defeated by Huang.

It took one level before another player was eliminated. Eventually, US-based Dong Kim was knocked out by Mo. He received KRW25,240,000 for his seventh place. As for Mo, he was holding more than 55% of the chips in play at that point.

The next elimination came shortly before the end of Level 21. Russian player Vladimir Demenkov was busted in sixth place by Huang. He took home the amount of KRW31,550,000.

Jennens was the only player eliminated in Level 22. The Canadian left the final table after he was defeated by the soon-to-be-champion. His fifth place secured him with KRW39,760,000.

In Level 23, PokerStars Team Pro Celina Lin was busted in fourth place by Demicki. The latter himself fell victim to the soon-to-be-champion not long after. The Pole was paid KRW63,100,000 for finishing third in the event.

The heads-up play started with Mo as the chip leader. The player held a stack of 4,219,000 against Huang’s 581,000. It took one more level before the name of the champion was announced.

The final hand occurred with Huang holding [Ad][8c] against his opponent’s [Ac][Qc]. The board showed [10d][4c][Kd][5c][Qh] and secured Mo with the winning hand. Huang received KRW97,820,000 for his runner-up finish.

Mo, on the other hand, was awarded with the tournament trophy, the amount of KRW165,590,200, and a seat into this year’s Asia Championship of Poker, which is to be held at the PokerStars Macau live card room between October 30 and November 15.
