Plainridge Park Casino Set to Open Doors on June 24

Gambling operator Penn National Gaming gave a tour around its Plainridge Park Casino, the first licensed gaming facility on the territory of Massachusetts. Although there are gaming machines yet to be installed and certain other finishing touches to be put, Mike Thoma, VP of Operations, and Lance George, General Manager of the facility, promised that it will be fully functional by June 24, when it is scheduled to open doors for visitors.

As mentioned above, Penn National Gaming owns and is to operate the casino. It spreads over 100,000 square feet and is expected to draw the attention of both fans of casino games and horse racing.

Mr. George commented that although the venue might be considered a small one by industry standards, visitors will discover that there is a lot to do at Plainridge.

As owners announced, the gaming facility, which is located in Plainville, Massachusetts, is to feature a 43,000-square-foot gaming floor with 1,250 slot machines, as well as video casino games such as poker, blackjack, and baccarat. Furthermore, visitors will be given the opportunity to enjoy horse racing events. For their convenience, the venue will also feature a 1,000-space parking lot.

Casino officials explained that there is a bit more work to be done on the dining and entertainment facilities that are to be part of Plainridge Park Casino. Visitors will be given the chance to choose among a sports pub, a food court with several outlets, a bar and grill establishment, etc.

The so-called Revolution 1776 Lounge, a bar which will offer live entertainment options as well as slots and poker machines, will be among the highlights of the complex.

Mr. George promised that they will certainly manage to put things in order before June 24, when the venue is scheduled to have its official opening. Once Plainridge Park Casino is launched, it will be open for visitors 24 hours a day.

Apart from Plainridge Park Casino, Massachusetts is also to have three full-fledged casinos. MGM Springfield and Wynn Everett are already under construction. The first is expected to be completed sometime in 2017. However, no information has been provided so far as to when the Wynn property is to open doors.

The third casino will be located in Southeastern Massachusetts. Currently, Brockton, New Bedford, and Somerset are competing for the last gambling license granted by the state Gaming Commission. The regulator is expected to announce its final decision later in 2015.
