jeffrey-lisandro-32020Jeff Lisandro is a professional poker player from Australia. He may not be made of the same dough as the most famous poker players but he is up there, at the top of the poker food chain, having some good wins over the years. He is a veteran in poker, having played for around twenty years now with his first big final being in the 1997 WSOP bracelet. After that flashy appearance, however, he couldn’t win any major events for quite some time. Up until 2007, when he came back by winning the $2k buy-in Seven Card Stud Event – the 38th WSOP held in Las Vegas. He took home more than $110k. It was not only the big prize he got, it was also the recognition from the experts, the players and the fans alike. He showed he could compete with the best, including Daniel Negreanu, Phile Ivey and Patrick Antonius.

Despite being born in Australia, Lisandro grew up in Italy and has been doing real estate investing before he began his professional poker career. Despite living in another country, Australians love him and consider him a cash game expert. He is in the Australian Poker Hall of Fame as well. He even has a popular fan website where details about him and the tournaments he played in is posted often.

His next big moment after the 2007 WSOP was winning three different bracelets in 2009. That same year he won the Player of the Year Award. His overall winnings from poker tournaments are estimated to be over $4 million.

This year, he reminded the poker community that he is still kicking and breathing and is capable of shooting for the stars. He won the Event #3 PLO of the WSOP bracelet, the sixth WSOP in his career. “They are not looking after their Golden Goose” were his words a few months ago when he was quite disappointed of the service of some tournament agency which he says focused more and more on profits and forgot about the faces who make poker what it is. He is not so bitter anymore, though, after winning over AU$51k. The total prize pool of the event was over AU$180. Lissandro showed he is in a good shape by finishing the finals in just three hours, leaving Jason Gray, who has $1,2 million career winnings, on second.

Lissandro has won another PLO event, back in 2010, in Europe. His other WSOP titles were respectively – three from Stud and one from Razz

Currently, there are only five other poker players who have won six WOSP bracelets only eight more who have won more than six. Lissandro has another record he set recently – becoming the second person to have won WSOP bracelets on three continents. Daniel Negreanu is holder of this achievement as well.
