horseshoecinThe Ohio Casino Control Commission announced on Wednesday that two of the state’s four casinos have been fined $175,000, as their surveillance systems did not meet the requirements of the Ohio Administrative Code and also failed to comply with certain state regulations.

Under a settlement agreement that was reached yesterday, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, both owned and operated by Rock Ohio Caesars LLC, are to pay $125,000 and $50,000, respectively.

A spokeswoman for the state Casino Control Commission said in a statement that the Cleveland casino did not have proper table games surveillance coverage. Furthermore, the venue added four new table games without being given the necessary approval for this. Apart from the fine, the Cleveland casino officials will have to ensure that employees receive additional training as related to the operations of table and poker games as well as to surveillance.

Marcus Glover, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, commented that they are well-aware of the importance of the matters pointed by the state gambling regulator. He also said that they have already addressed some of the surveillance issues.

This is not the first time that the Cleveland casino was fined by the Ohio Casino Control Commission. In 2013, it was to pay the amount of $180,000 for not complying with certain security and operating regulations. In 2014, Rock Ohio Caesars’ subsidiary ROC Finance LLC had to pay a total of $200,000 for failing to notify the Casino Control Commission that it had not been able to complete a certain loan refinancing procedure.

As for Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati, it was imposed a $125,000 fine, as according to the state gambling regulator, it had not addressed surveillance issues in a timely manner.

In addition to this, the commission had also found out during a regular audit that the casino had not complied with a 2013 agreement with the state regulator. According to the latter, the gambling venue had granted credit extensions even to customers with incomplete files. Generally, this is considered violation of state law and its internal controls.

Apart from paying the levied fine, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland will also have to ensure that its employees receive additional training.

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and Horseshoe Casino Cleveland are two of the state’s four casinos. Currently, the Cincinnati venue features about 2,000 slot machines, 87 table games, and a 31-table WSOP Poker Room. As for the Cleveland property, it offers to visitors more than 1,600 slot machines, almost 100 table games, and a 30-table WSOP Poker Room.
