The Eureka Poker Tour Season 5 Hamburg €2,200 High Roller was completed late last night with Dutchman Tobias Peters emerging victorious over a field of 81 entries to capture the amount of €37,548.
As many as five players returned yesterday so as for a winner to be determined and it took five and a half hours and 120 hands before his name was announced.
The day started with Peters as the chip leader. He managed to collect a total of 838,000 on the previous day. The player was followed by Germans Steven Abbey with 553,000 and Fabian Petersen with 308,000. Ali Sameeian with 179,000 and Timo Schneider with 147,000 were the other two players to return for the event’s final day.
It took 40 hands before someone left the table. On Hand 41, Sameeian was eliminated in 5th place by Schneider. He took home the amount of €12,260. Seven hands later, Petersen could not stand a chance against Abbey’s pocket aces. The player was paid €15,480 for his 4th place.
The remaining three players then made an ICM deal, under which Peters was to receive €33,548, Schneider was to be paid €27,419, and €27,073 were for Abbey. There were €6,000 left to play for, with €2,000 for the runner-up and €4,000 for the champion.
Peters managed to maintain his chip lead over the other two players during the three-handed play. Abbey was the next to be eliminated. He was busted in 3rd place by Schneider.
At the very beginning of the heads-up, Schneider was the one to hold the majority of chips and he maintained his lead for the next 20 hands. Peters, however, caught up and took the lead right on time for the last hand. He had [Ac][7d] against Schneider’s [Ah][4c]. The board showed [Qh][7h][3h][Ks][Qs] and the name of the winner became clear.
Schneider took home the amount of €29,419 and Peters was awarded the tournament trophy and a total of €37,548.
Up to now, the Dutch player has won about $680,000 from live tournaments. He got his biggest cash of $105,929 for finishing 2nd in the Unibet Open Malta €1,500 + 150 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event back in 2011. He has also cashed in a number of WSOP, WPT, EPT, and other prestigious events.
