A few days ago, members of the state Assembly Appropriations Committee voted unanimously in favor of AB 431, which was introduced by Assemblyman Adam Gray back in February 2015. If approved by the Legislature, the proposed legislation would legalize the provision of online poker options to residents of California.
Being a topic highly commented upon in the past several months, the potential introduction of online poker in the state will be one of the most important matters to be discussed during the upcoming Indian Country Online conference. As previously reported, some of the California-based tribes, such as the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, have teamed up with Amaya Gaming and several state casinos to support AB 431. The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Mission Indians, however, has recently withdrawn its support for the proposed legislation.
Bearing all this in mind, it seems that the Indian Country Online conference will be an exciting event to attend. It is scheduled to take place between June 10 and June 11 and Pala Casino Spa Resort in Pala, California will play host to it.
The two-day conference is to be attended by gaming experts and officials from tribal-managed gaming companies and venues across the country. They will discuss matters such as customers, mobile gaming, fantasy sports, gambling-concerned politics, etc. at six different panels.
The event is organized and sponsored by Pechanga.net and Spectrum Gaming Group. Online gaming software supplier BetConstruct, online casino portal PlayNJ, and a number of iGaming-oriented websites are among the other sponsors of the conference.
And here is a bit more information about the different sessions as well as the topics that are to be touched upon at those:
iPlayer Session
Indian Country Online will kick off with a panel intended to discuss the profile of the customers who play online casino, social, and fantasy games and in what way they are different from those who visit brick-and-mortar casinos. Prominent researchers and marketers are to acquaint tribal casinos representatives with information on how their properties might benefit from online gaming and online players.
iMobile Session
Mobile iGaming experts will comment on the trends that could be noticed in the way customers access online gambling content via their mobile devices. In addition, the opportunities and implications for the tribes to integrate mobile gaming options in their operations will also be among the topics to be discussed at this particular panel.
iSkill/iSocial Session
Speakers at this session will dwell upon the rise of the skill-based social games and how those could become an important part of the online gaming operations of tribal casinos.
iFantasy/iSports Session
At this session, industry insiders are to discuss as to whether and how fantasy sports might become part of the gambling options offered at tribal casinos.
iStrategy Session
This panel will give officials from tribal casinos the opportunity to acquaint themselves with successful online strategies presented by leaders in the field.
iPolitics Session
Last but not least, following the great debate that currently rages between supporters and opponents of the legalization of online poker in California, prominent and well-experienced regulatory, political, and Native American figures will comment on the future of iGaming not only in the state, but also in the country as a whole.
