Stephen Chidwick Drops Out of Top 3 of the GPI Ranking

The Global Poker Index has just updated its weekly leaderboard. Dan Smith is still at the top with 4,080.67 points, followed by Byron Kaverman with 3,747.88 points and Bryn Kenney, who entered this week’s top 3 with 3,692.07 points. Ole Schemion with 3685.16 points and Davidi “Kitbul” Kitai with 3,676.69 points were the other two other players to comprise top 5 of the prestigious ranking.

Last week’s number 3, Stephen Chidwick, dropped 4 positions to rank 7th this week. The British player has collected a total of 3,625.81 points since the beginning of the calendar year. Of those, 1541.79 points were scored at the 46th Annual World Series of Poker.

It could be said that Chidwick has been performing quite well since the beginning of this year’s edition of the Series. He cashed in as many as 7 different events, collecting $279,488 from those.

First, he finished 100th in Event #14: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout for $5,413 and 198.41 points. Then he took 7th place in Event #17: $10,000 Razz Championship for $38,447 and 276.07 points. His 14th-place finish in Event #22: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em secured him with $14,391 of the prize pool and 126.83 points.

Chidwick almost won Event #41: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship and his first-ever gold bracelet but had to content himself with the runner-up finish as he could not stand a chance against Italian Max Pescatori. The British player added $180,529 to his poker bankroll and 397.93 points.

Chidwick next cashed in Event #47: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em for $4,414 and 148.11 points and Event #51: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed for $23,918 and 266.40 points. He took 137th and 13th places at those. Last, he captured the amount of $12,376 and 128.03 points for his 36th-place finish in Event #56: $5,000 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em.

Although the player has not captured a WSOP title yet, he could be frequently spotted at Series events over the past several years. Up to now, he has cashed in a total of 36 WSOP events and has collected $1,524,857 from those.

As for his total live tournament earnings, Chidwick could boast of $4,068,230 from various WSOP, EPT, and other prestigious events. The British player can also be seen at PokerStars and Full Tilt online poker rooms, mostly under the screen name stevie444. He has won $4,387,336 online.

Apart from his 7th place in the GPI leaderboard, Chidwick is currently ranking 4th in the 2015 GPI WSOP Player of the Year one and 3rd in the GPI Player of the Year one.
