Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

News

Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland in the town of Roland, Oklahoma officially opened doors on Wednesday, July 1. The property is the eighth gambling venue owned and managed by the Cherokee Nation.

The Wednesday ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Roland residents, tribal members, as well as Bill Baker, the Cherokee Nation’s Principal Chief. Mr. Baker commented on the new venue as a quality project that would be well-maintained and would provide visitors with excellent experience, similar to what a player could be offered in Las Vegas, for instance. Furthermore, the official pointed out that the casino has created more than 250 jobs.

Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland spreads over 170,000 square feet of land. Cherokee Nation Entertainment, which is known to be the tribe’s wholly owned gaming, hospitality, tourism, and retail operator, broke ground on its project in April 2014. In other words, it took a little more than a year for the property to be completed and launched.

Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland, which is located on Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 64, features a casino floor, two restaurants – The Buffet and Grab & Go, the Cherokee Travel Plaza, a multi-purpose complex offering a number of food and beverage and entertainment options. The Roland Art Gallery and Theater is among the facilities that are expected to attract more attention. It is located within the Cherokee Travel Plaza and gives visitors the chance to acquaint themselves with authentic Cherokee art. As its name suggests, it also features a unique travel-plaza theater, where Cherokee movies are to be screened.

A resort-styled hotel, located not far from the casino itself, is scheduled to open doors for guests sometime this fall, thus creating more jobs for residents of the area.

As for the casino venue, it features more than 850 electronic games and 9 table ones, with 21+3, Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold ’em Progressive, and WPT Heads Up Hold’em being among those. Poker players are also given the opportunity to play at one of the 5 poker tables.

It is interesting to note that Cherokee Casino Roland was in fact the Cherokee Nation’s first gambling facility. The property first opened doors in 1990 and operated as a bingo hall.

Aside from the Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland, the tribe manages 7 other gambling properties across Oklahoma featuring thousands of electronic and table games, as well as other gaming, food and beverage, accommodation, and entertainment options.
