More than two months ago, the 2014 One Drop attendee Jean-Robert Bellande announced that he has accepted a prop bet to lose weight. The deadline is the 1st of November and there isn’t much time left.
That is why Bellande called for help from his Twitter followers, asking for any advice as he still needs to lose around nine pounds for just a few days.
During the One Drop event during the summer, Jean-Robert Bellande was an underdog among the favorites Sam Trickett, Talal Shakerchi and Vanessa Selbst. There he mentioned his recent prop bet with Bobby Baldwin where he is determined to keep his promise of weighing less than 245 pounds before the 1st of November.
Bobby Baldwin will surely be happy to get a free $50,000 if Bellande does not manage to keep his side of the bargain. Baldwin is on the list of Poker Hall of Fame players and has won bracelets of the World Series of Poker many times with an overall of twenty cash-outs from WSOP – more than $2 million.
The prop bet of Bellande is for $70,000 and it is not known who holds 20,000 of them. Back when the bet was announced, Bellande seemed quite confident that he will be on the winning side of it. For the first month he managed to lose 10 pounds. He has done that without following any specific diet and therefore had not doubt it will be no problem to reach 245 lbs. The confidence he had a month ago, however, seems to have disappeared as the final date of the bargain is near. The amount of pounds he has left to lose are equal to an average sized watermelon or a bawling ball.
He asked his 60,000 Twitter followers for any constructive feedback on how he can manage to lose 9 pounds in under a week. Some advised him to ride a bicycle for at least two hours each day and go to sauna. Others advised to consume as little carb foods as possible. Fans encouraged Bellande and assured him the task is doable with some effort on his side with mandatory cardio-exercises on a daily basis.
Of course, there were people who were skeptic and said he is doomed and will soon owe Baldwin $50,000. Ted Forrest, a winner of a few WSOP bracelets, commented that he would stand behind Bellande, however there seemed to be no decent enough bettors who would actually pay back if they lose, he said.
The reason Forrest made such a cavil comment was because he himself won a weight-loss prop bet but did not get paid. Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow has still not paid the $2 million he owes to Forrest when Forrest succeeded in losing 50 pounds. There hasn’t been any prop bet as big as this one in the history of poker prop bets. Forrest shared that Matusow has paid him only $70,500 so far.
