The Global Poker Index has just posted its weekly update. Needless to say, there was quite a movement this week due to the 46th Annual World Series of Poker, which are currently taking place in Las Vegas. Over the past seven days, Anthony Zinno climbed 7 positions to top the ranking. The Massachusetts-based poker pro has collected a total of 3,896.39 GPI points so far.
Zinno is followed by Dan Smith with 3,819.75 points and Bryn Kenney with 3,696.06 points. German Ole Schemion with 3,686.11 points and Belgian Davidi “Kitbul” Kitai with 3,637.95 points are the other two players who constitute this week’s GPI Top 5.
As mentioned above, Zinno has been doing quite well recently. He has collected a little less than $2 million and a total of 1942.72 points since the beginning of this year’s edition of the WSOP. First, he won $74,262 and 323.44 points for finishing 6th in Event #21: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.
Then, he took 7th place in Event #25: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed for $64,484 and 333.06 points. Zinno also finished 5th in Event #50: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship to capture the amount of $72,377 and 312.37 points. The poker pro also performed quite well in this year’s Event #58: $111,111 High Roller for ONE DROP, where he took 7th place to scoop $565,864 of the prize pool and 354.74 points.
Last week, Zinno even managed to capture his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet. The player topped the field of Event #60: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha and collected $1,122,196, his biggest live cash so far. Furthermore, he also scooped 619.11 points, which definitely contributed to his current rank in the GPI leaderboard.
Up to now, Zinno’s live tournament earnings total $5,036,027 and more than a half of that amount was collected in 2015.
Earlier this year, the poker pro topped the fields of three WPT events. In February, he won the 2015 Fallsview Poker Classic C$4,700 + 300 No-Limit Hold’em WPT Main Event for C$380,021 ($302,235) and the 2015 LA Poker Classic $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship for $1,015,860. In March, the player emerged victorious in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars $24,500 + 500 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for $197,758.
Bearing in mind his Fallsview and LA Poker Classic victories, as well as his 1st place in the 2013 Borgata Poker Open $3,300 + 200 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, it is important to note that Zinno is one of the three players who have captured three WPT titles. The other two are Gus Hansen and Carlos Mortensen.
