Yet another day of the 2015 WSOP $10,000 Main Event was marked as completed. Day 4 saw 661 players returning to try their best and win a seat into this year’s final table, which is to take place in November. By the end, there were only 237 left. And two-time WSOP Circuit gold ring winner Joseph McKeehen finished Day 4 as the chip leader. The player collected a total of 3,122,000.
McKeehen took the lead early in play and remained among the leaders of the day until the very end. As mentioned above, the player holds two WSOP Circuit gold rings. He won those back in 2013. As for his performance at the WSOP, McKeehen does not have gold bracelets or at least, not for now. Yet, he has won $883,494 at different Series events. His overall live tournament winnings currently amount to $1,995,070.
Day 4 of this year’s Main Event ended with one-time bracelet winner Upeshka De Silva finishing 2nd in chips with 3,067,000. He was followed by Erasmus Morfe with 2,502,000 and Brian Hastings, who won two of his three pieces of WSOP jewelry this year, with 2,464,000. Thomas Cannuli, too, entered the day’s top 5 with 2,271,000.
Other notable players who will return for Day 5 of the Main Event are Daniel Negreanu with 1,335,000, Max Steinberg with 1,234,000, and Antonio Esfandiari with 190,000.
Jim Bechtel is the only former WSOP Main Event champion who will be seen at the tables on Day 5. The player bagged up a total of 1,125,000 chips. Bechtel won the Main Event in 1993.
One of the highlights of Day 4 was the elimination of fourteen-time gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth. The poker pro was defeated by none other than Negreanu himself. He was eliminated in 417th place, receiving a payout of $21,786.
Ryan Riess and Joe Hachem were also among the former WSOP Main Event champions to fall on Day 4. The first finished 426th for $21,786 and the latter took 298th place for $29,329.
As mentioned above, a total of 237 players will return to Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino for Day 5 of the $10,000 Main Event. Play is scheduled to resume at 12 pm local time and five more levels will be completed.
