Pierre Neuville finished Day 5 of the 2015 WSOP $10,000 Main Event as the chip leader. The Belgian player collected 7,105,000 chips over the day. He is to return for Day 6 topping a field of 69 remaining entries.
This year, Neuville cashed in one event – the first-ever MILLIONAIRE MAKER, where he was paid $6,973. Currently, his WSOP winnings amount to $591,460, but he has not won any gold bracelets so far. His live tournament earnings total $2,195,160.
Day 5 of the event started with 237 entries returning to contend for a seat into this year’s final table, which is to take place in November, and a chance to win the first-place prize of $7,680,021.
Although Neuville managed to scoop the largest stack, there are several other players who are really close behind him. By the end of the day, David Stefanski ranked 2nd with 6,480,000 chips. He was followed by Thomas Paul with 6,140,000 and David Peters with 6,130,000. Mozheng Guan was the last player to comprise Day 5’s top 5. He collected 6,030,000 chips.
Day 6 of the WSOP Main Event will see 69 players returning. Multiple bracelet winners Daniel Negreanu and Brian Hastings are also among those who will be seen at the tables. The first completed Day 5 with 3,620,000 and the latter took 4,740,000. German player Fedor Holz, who made his debut at the Series this year, will also return with 1,975,000.
However, some players were not that lucky and had to leave the championship. John Racener, who finished 2nd in the 2010 WSOP Main Event, was eliminated in 162nd place for $46,890. Former WSOP Main Event champion Jim Bechtel was defeated by Tai Nguyen to take 121st place this year. He, too, collected the amount of $46,890 for what turned out to be his first Series cash since 2006.
Play is scheduled to resume at 12 pm in the Amazon room of Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino local time and five more levels will be played. As mentioned above, a total of 69 will return for Day 6 of this year’s Main Event hoping to win the most prestigious title in the world of poker and the amount of $7,680,021. The minimum payouts for those who get eliminated today will be $96,445.
