The summer edition of the 2015 WSOP was completed mere hours ago and the names of the nine players who will appear at the $10,000 Main Event final table, which will be played on November 8-10, became clear. Joseph McKeehen from Pennsylvania will lead the nine remaining finalists, as he managed to bag the largest stack on Day 7 of the event.
The player collected 63,100,000 throughout the day. Furthermore, he was the one to eliminate Daniel Negreanu himself and deprive him of the chance to win the most prestigious title in the world of poker. Up to now, McKeehen has cashed in 8 WSOP events and has scooped $883,494 so far. He will also capture no less than $1,001,020 from this year’s Main Event.
Apart from his performance in Series events, the player has been quite successful at Circuit events. At present, he holds two Circuit gold rings and his career Circuit winnings amount to $310,785.
Day 7 of the Main Event, or the last one before the final table, saw 27 players returning to try their luck and join the prestigious group of the November Nine. Play resumed on Level 30 and by its end, no one was eliminated. Level 31 saw six players go and six more left the tables in Level 32. During Level 33, Thomas Kearney and Justin Schwartz, too, were unfortunate enough to get eliminated.
Shortly after Level 34 began, Matt Guan and George McDonald left the tables, as well. With only 11 remaining players, play slowed down for a while. However, at a certain point, McKeehen faced Negreanu for what turned out to be one of the most important hands in play and the last one for the latter. The six-time bracelet winner went all-in with [As][4d] against his opponent’s [Jd][3d]. The board ran out [Ad][Kc][10d][3h][Qh], thus securing McKeehen with a straight and Negreanu’s chips. The latter added $526,778 to his poker bankroll for finishing 11th in the Main Event.
As Negreanu was eliminated, there is only one former bracelet winner – Max Steinberg, who will return for the final table. He will resume play with a stack of 20,200,000 chips.
And here are the rest of the players who made it to the final table as well as their seating assignments:
Seat 1 will be for Zvi Stern, who bagged up 29,800,000 chips on Day 7. Pierre Neuville will be on Seat 2. He collected 21,075,000 chips on Day 7. Joshua Beckley with 11,800,000 will be on Seat 3. Seat 4 will be for Steinberg. Thomas Cannuli with 12,250,000 will be on Seat 5. The chip leader – McKeehen – will sit on Seat 6. Seat 7 is reserved for Patrick Chan with 6,225,000. Federico Butteroni, the short stack, will be on Seat 8. Rounding out the final table, Neil Blumenfield with 22,000,000 will be on Seat 9.
As mentioned above, play will resume on November 8 and will continue up until November 10, when the name of the champion will become clear. He will be awarded the amount of $7,680,021.
