Minneapolis-based architecture and interior design firm Cuningham Group was in charge of the project’s design. Once completed, the casino is to create about 40 new jobs for members of the White Earth Nation and residents of the surrounding areas.
Bill Marsh, General Manager of the Shooting Star property in Mahnomen, said in the Wednesday statement that they are extremely excited about their new venue in Bagley.
The executive pointed out that they have carried out an extensive research and have found out that a large portion of the Mahnomen visitors actually came from the Bagley area. In addition, the Northwest Minnesota region has long ago expressed interest in hosting a first-class gambling facility.
Bagley will benefit not only from the newly created jobs but also from the revenue that the casino is to contribute to the city and its health, educational, and environmental operations. Mr. Marsh also noted that the venue is also expected to “improve business growth” in the area.
According to the Wednesday release, the White Earth Nation is to provide more details on its latest project on Friday, August 7.
Mr. Marsh also noted that it will be of the utmost importance to them to turn Bagley into a “true destination” and to benefit the city and the surrounding area in any possible way.
As mentioned above, the White Earth Nation currently runs the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center in Mahnomen. The luxury gambling and entertainment destination enjoys great popularity among Minnesota residents.
The complex had its official launch in May 1992. In 2001, a 145,300-square-foot expansion was launched. The total amount of $30 million was spent on it. The facility now features a casino floor, a 386-room hotel, a concert venue spreading over 15,000 square feet and a meeting hall spreading over 30,000 square feet.
According to the latest information, the Mahnomen property employs 1,000 people and annually distributes more than $27 million in wages and various benefits.
