Kamloops’ Cascades Casino to Open Doors on August 19

Events & Reports

Cascades Casino, the newest casino in the city of Kamloops, British Columbia, is set to officially open doors for visitors on August 19. The venue is actually a relocated and rebranded Lake City casino located in downtown city.

Tony Santo, Chief Executive Officer of gambling operator Gateway Casinos, invited on Friday local media on a special tour of the facility. The executive noted that the C$40-million project is on schedule for an August 19 opening and builders are currently putting certain finishing touches on the property.

Cascades Casino will offer its visitors a spacious casino with 500 slot machines, 18 different table games, and 3 poker tables. Lake City, on the other hand, currently features 300 slot machines, 6 table games, and no poker options. In addition to this, the venue does not offer stand-alone restaurants.

Cascades Casino will feature as many as 3 restaurants – The Buffet, Match, and Atlas. It is interesting to note that this would be the first restaurant of the Atlas brand offered at a Gateway location. Mr. Santo described the facility as a “high-end” dining option and said that more Atlas locations will be added at their future developments.

As for The Buffet and Match brands, Gateway has been working with those for years and they have proved to be quite successful at the casino operator’s properties. Atlas will offer room for 150 visitors, Match will seat about 300 people, and The Buffet will have room for 200 people.

The lounge located on the casino floor is yet another feature worth mentioning. It will have a stage for live performances.

According to the initial plan for the $40-million casino complex, the property was to feature a 500-seat amphitheater located outdoors. However, Mr. Santo said on Friday that that particular part of the project was put on hold due to parking issues.

The executive told local media that once the venue opens doors, visitors will see all other features that had been included in the initial plan. In other words, they will be offered “a fully operational casino” with a number of dining and entertainment options.

Cascades Casino’s capacity will be approximately 2,300 people. Furthermore, the venue will employ 325 people. In comparison, Lake City casino has about 125 employees.

Commenting on the new casino’s design, Mr. Santo said that they wanted to include elements of Kamloops’ natural beauty.

Finally, the executive pointed out that their visitors will be people who will be looking for social experience and that is exactly what Cascades Casino is to provide them with. Mr. Santo said that their main purpose is not only to offer people a large variety of gambling options, but also to entertain them in different other ways.
