Phil Hellmuth joined the elite company of professional poker players who stream live on Twitch while playing their favorite variations of the game. The Poker Brat, as he is known due to his temperamental personality, made his live debut on the live streaming platform on Saturday, August 8.

Joined by Eric Diep, Co-founder of mobile game developer A Thinking Ape, and the Twitch Head of Poker, Hellmuth streamed live from his study at his home in Palo Alto, California. He played Pineapple!, a poker-like, skill-based game, developed by the aforementioned gaming studio. It seems that it has turned into a favorite pastime of his.

Hellmuth promised his fans that he will stream live on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at noon local time. As of the time of writing, the player’s Twitch channel has 1,717 followers and a total of 3,372 views. Being one of the most popular and highly respected poker pros, Hellmuth’s streams will most definitely attract great interest in future.

At first, Twitch was primarily focused on video gaming. In other words, gamers from around the world streamed live while playing various popular games, uploaded playthroughs with their own commentaries, etc.

Gradually, Twitch turned into a favorite place for popular and not-so-popular poker players where they can broadcast while playing, comment on poker-related matters, and exchange opinions with fellow players and fans of the game.

Poker pro Jason Somerville could be considered the pioneer in streaming poker content on Twitch. The player managed to turn his passion for the game into a successful feed on the platform. He gave viewers the opportunity to watch him play live as well as provide comments and important pieces of advice. His Run it UP! series turned into a bit of a sensation in the poker community. Somerville’s Twitch channel has more than 100,000 followers and a little less than 7.5 million total views.

Following his enormous success on the video platform, a number of other prominent poker professionals joined it. Daniel Negreanu, Randy Lew, Jaime Staples, and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier are only several of the big poker names that could be spotted streaming on Twitch. And as mentioned above, fourteen-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth was the latest to join this pool of elite players.
