7837822It seems like the tendentious decline in the revenue of the Asian gambling Mecca – Macau, has also affected the gambling revenue in the United States and in Nevada in particular. That’s the second month when the revenue didn’t met the expectations of casino owners and market analysts.

The situation in Macau is even more serious. Although the income in Macau-based casinos remains predominantly stable, the decrease in the sales is obvious. One of the key figures in the gambling business, Sheldon Adelson, defined the current situation as temporary. He was absolutely convinced that the issues are not here to stay.

Yet, the latest reports proved him wrong. The Nevada-based players are not willing to take part in gambling activities as often as they used to. Strange as it may sound, some market analysts even suspected that the upcoming holidays keep the players away from the casino venues as they are trying to save up some money for presents.

It is a well known fact that Nevada used to be a major gambling hub that attracted players not only from the other states but also from all over the world. The first thing that came to everyone’s mind when Las Vegas got mentioned, was the great number of casino venues and the abundant night life. Every player has been dreaming to visit these casinos and feel the excitement.

Well, numbers show that things have changed a lot recently and a decrease of 6% was reported over the last year.

The Gaming Revenue Report, issued by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, says the following: the revenue for September was a bit over $900 million, which is approximately $18 million less than the revenue in August.

The downfall in the revenue of Las Vegas Sands was estimated to be 12% over the past year. The only positive thing in the statistics was the increased percentage of roulette activities. Yet, the positive numbers cannot compensate for the 20% decrease in the table games and the losses from slot machines, equal to $250 million.

The situation with the downtown revenues is not very bright as well. The venues reported a decline of 4% YOY. A significant increase in the sports betting activities was reported though.

Reno – based casinos reported a 2% drop; the venues, located in the vicinity of South Lake Tahoe, however, reported an increase in the sales, which gave the authorities the opportunity to provide precise information about the general situation in Nevada. The downfall for the entire state for the last three months was estimated to be 3%.

The poker activities were also affected. A drop of almost 7% was reported for the last month. As a matter of fact, that’s the worst statistics since the local experts have started monitoring the gambling industry. Most probably, the reason for the decrease was the World Series of Poker that showed the players how exciting the online poker activities can be and made them impatient to take part in another thrilling tournament outside Nevada, which respectively led to the drastic downfall of 30%.
